So back in September 2014, I got into a car crash. I was at fault and didn't have insurance at the time. I know I would be liable for the damages, blah, blah.
So went to the DMV because my license got suspended over it. They wanted me to pay $2200 + $250 reinstation fee
or they told me wait a year from the date of my suspension and they will close the case and at that point, I would just pay $250 reinstation fee. So I waited the year.
Now from November 2014 on, I've been getting collection calls representing the insurance company of the person who hit me. But when I spoke to the DMV, they told me an attorney from said insurance company will be contacting me. From there I could settle, set up payment arrangements, etc. But I never got contacted by one. Only by that collection agency.
So, last month I got my free annual credit report and on my Equifax, I saw a soft pull from that insurance company. I'm confused at this point. How the hell did they get my social to pull my credit?
and it was obviously pulled without my authorization.
I haven't heard from that collection agency since Feb. 2015. A few weeks ago, I was contacted by another collection agency representing the insurance company but I'm dodging their calls. I'm pissed about that credit pull, that got to be something they can't do without my authorization right? I don't know what to do from this point

but that means I will be almost squared away with them.
Imma be out of debt by summer's end :letyasoulglow: It feels good.
, just be glad it's something small. I used to see people begging supervisors to put court papers on folks so they could get that ball rolling to try to get that commission. Others will get nasty and report on your credit every month just to get you fukked up because they know you won't pay. But sooner or later, they know you're gonna have to talk to them. When you consider a home, a car or something like that, you'll end up paying more than 2k when they hit you with higher rates because they kept reporting each month.
