Kobe was borderline top 10 in 2000 and top 3/5 in 01 & 02. He was a huge reason why the Lakers were so dominant. Lakers weren't much outside of Shaq and Kobe.

I still remember during the Portland and Sacramento series NBC would put up the graphics the showed the opposing team as "Too Deep" and The Lakers as "2 Deep" with stats showing Shaq and Kobe were basically carrying everybody else.

In 2000 you could say Kobe was a sidekick. He was. In 2001 and 2002 however, you cant.
