Why would they? When their parents and relatives went to Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State because that was their only option?

Other SEC schools besides Ole Miss and maybe Texas A&M don't seem to have as big of an issue with black support

Why would you say that? Kids want to be on TV, playing for BCS conferences gives them exposure. If Kansas State which was considered the worst team in D1 in the country for decades could improve, why can't they? We need to stop setting low standards for ourselves. Would you rather play for Kansas State or Howard? :beli:

most HBCUs are small. small schools=small money unless it's a private school.they cant afford big time college football. wish it was different but :yeshrug:

University of Miami - 15k students
Stanford - 15k
FAMU - 13k
Howard - 11k

It can be done and doing so would also increase enrollment at those schools because they can higher more teachers and house more students with it. University of Kansas sucks at football, but they are not leaving the Big XII anytime soon because of the $$$.

We need to stop having this defeatist attitude as a people if we are going to aspire to do more.

Miami has shyt facilities and a wack stadium. Stanford has a lot of very wealthy alumni not saying HBCUs dont but google Stanford's campus than any hbcu campus.
im not saying it's impossible but it would have a very very minute chance of happening. it's not a defeatist attitude it's being realistic. aint nothing wrong with that

Don't let these major BCS conferences control your mind man.....If HBCUs had the same bowl/tournament eligibility as the big time programs, it wouldn't take more than a decade for them to be able to compete on a national level. Imagine Sam Cassell coaching Howard or Nate McMillan coaching FAMU. Perry Fewell coaching Grambling football. The bands/girls/college life would sell itself, which is the biggest issue for majority white colleges now recruiting black players from inner cities....they fear the athletes will have culture shock. The money generated would be:mindblown: for these struggling universities

What you fail to see is that KU also has a alumni network of about 285k strong plus the efforts to have a $500 million dollar endowment which we are very close to achieving. Name me a HBCU that can match that? Plus outside of basketball which we we are one of the blue bloods, we could care less about athletics. Wildin at the Phog and partying on Massachusetts Ave at the Granada is just a perk besides getting that diploma in Lawrence

I get your underlying message, but most of the private universities that do well in sports (e.g. Duke and Stanford) have a multi-billion dollar endowment and a wealthy alumni base for multi-billion dollar campaign raising efforts

Howard has a less than a ~$500mm endowment I believe and I don't think FAMU has even cracked ~$100mm :ld:
