Never said we didn't have the money, we just don't wanna spend it on tips
Then don’t eat out. The whole point of restaurants is someone making you the food as well as serving it. Unless the service/food is bad, there’s no reason not to tip.
Wealth can enable one to tip well, it's also about personal beliefs and values. Everyone, wealthy or not, has the capacity to be generous within their means.
You don’t need to be wealthy to tip well. When I was broke, I didn’t go out to eat. When I made decent money, I seldomly went out to eat.

Now I’m making good money, I tip generously for good service. Why? When I go back to the same spot, they remember me and give me 1st class service. I also get freebies under the table.

But to each their own. Broke people should stay at home and pick up a cook book.

Nah man, if you sitting down and someone is serving you, a tip is a must. Now if you are picking up food then you really aren’t being “served” so I can see an argument for no tip there.

If I’m picking up food I usually tip $1-$2 at least. Sitting down can be 15 - 30% depending on service received. I try to show some sort of love.

It's important to keep in mind that for some people, eating out might be their only option due to various reasons, such as lack of time, knowledge, or facilities to cook at home.

The discussion on tipping and eating out often goes beyond just personal finance. It can also touch on broader societal and economic issues, such as wage fairness and the cost of living.

Tipping culture in America is wild to me.

As a paying customer, I'm already giving your restaurant money to buy and eat the food. You also expect me to pay your staffs wages? fukk outta here :camby:
Yeah it is kinda exploitative, and most of us, be we patron or employee, are very indignant at the principles, or lack there of.

Oddly enough though, for some reason, the people making all the money here are completely and utterly unmoved by our respective protesting tactics of stiffing the wait staff and them putting boogers, semen and dookie crumbs in our food in retaliation. :mindblown:

But im sure if we keep supporting their business through money and labor they will come around and start sympathizing with our plight sooner or later, right? :troll:

Maybe they should take that shyt up w/ their manager. Or maybe let them mfs serve plates themselves

And that comparison doesn't work. You HAVE to get an oil change no matter what. The mechanic isn't asking for a tip.
Oh. I didn't know people have to eat at sit down restaurats. I also didn't know people have to drive cars that require expensive oil changes. Do you have a car?

According to your line of thinking, it shouldn’t matter if someone else is preparing my food or serving it to me. Because of that, I should tip, bad service or terrible food be damned. And if that’s not the case, I’m subtracting for every infraction (not introducing yourself, not refilling water when half full, not giving a recommendation, not knowing the menu when i ask for suggestions, not having a bubbly personality/attitude) I feel isn’t up to my standard.

Do you tip the kid that bags your groceries? The doorman at the hotel or the bellhop who brings your bags up? What about takeout orders? The TSA security guards that’s ensuring you make it to your next destination safely? Where does this tipping shyt begin and end?

This the part that blows me with y’all “you gotta tip or stay home” folks. Yes they are serving you because someone still had to prepare your food and someone had to bring it out to you. Why should the difference here be that you’re taking it home? That’s the only variable and shouldn’t matter. You can’t tip for that, stay home and cook your own food right?
