Dude makes dope music. Can't knock it.
I don't see him as a master lyricist, but dude can paint a dope picture, and flow over beats and definitely used that talent to craft a great album.
Kendrick just happens to be the guy who's doing something different on a "larger than underground" platform IMO, but at the same time, the music is dope and has proven itself.
This^
He ain't super lyrical but to say he don't have good lyrics is just blasphemy to me. He obviously takes his music serious and sits down and writes. Creative innovation is written all over GKMC.
He's not a conscious rapper, he's a spitter. People connect with his passion for music. He been since what 16? He ain't no average nikka that just jumped into game by paying his way or whatever people make excuses for. He worked to get where he's at.
Kendrick can rap about anything.
Women, Love, Faith, Religion, Death, etc...
I started listening to him when Lupe gave him the cosign, called his album, Album of the year. So I checked it out and instantly became of fan. bytch Don't Kill My Vibe is a timeless track to me, it will never get old because the groove of the beat is hard not bob your head to.
I don't understand why people hate to see this dude succeed. How can you not appreciate his hustle... His dedication, his determination?
His alien voice is nothing but Andre 3K reminiscing...
"Du Du Du" reminiscing E 40
His harmonizing with layers and shyt... Reminiscing Bone Thugz N Harmony... I'm a fan of all of them so why wouldn't I like his music.
