I hope he saved some money, because it's vet minimum contracts at best after this.

He signed as a free agent.

His case is a sad one, but he had knee injuries in his history when he got that big deal from the Knicks.

Everyone was aware of the risks, and the team went from a laughingstock to the second best record in the East last year.

And next year he's an expiring deal... :banderas:

So we gonna act like the Knicks werent killing in the 1st half of that season until Melo wanted to dikkride Lebron and leave his team also forcing the Knicks to trade several valuable pieces in order to attain 1 nikka, I dont see how that pre-Melo team couldntve been more successful than theyve been with Melo if Amare was healthy
I feel like I'm the only one that remembers this.

Oh you mean Wilson Chandler & Gallinari? Because we got Felton back, and Mozgov is a bench warmer. Plus the Nuggets did NOT get out of the 1st rd last year and are 0-3, so let's kill all that.

They were a .500 team before Melo got there. That core they had was fools gold. D'Antoni's offense can pretty much make any group of players look better than they are offensively. BUT, Melo isn't someone you build around unfortunately. He's best years physically are behind him.

I feel like I'm the only one that remembers this.

You aren't the only one. Motherfukkers always come with that revisionist history shyt. People forget when we started that season with Gallo and amare they lost a shyt ton of games early on, until Amare had that whole "we need to stop this culture of losing talk".

The recurring thought I keep having about this teams chemistry compared to last year is the goal. Last year everyone bought into what woody was selling. We had a ton of vets and there was no time to slowly build. It was win now. The leadership was there, the team had an identity. Melo knew what he had to do. Everyone had clear defined roles early on. We were built to win that year.

This year its like the high wore off. We are backlogged in certain positions, it's clear shump just isn't happy. Bargnani is having a tough time adjusting and melo doesn't seem to have patience for that shyt. Add in headcases like Metta and Kenyon and what do you got? There's no calming veteran like Kidd, and no super vocal motivator like sheed. Closest we got to any calming is Priggy. Plus Woody is dealing with garden pressure. It's obvious from his demeanor and mantra this season. By no means am I saying we won't gel or be more productive, but it concerns me that currently we have a team that doesn't seem to like each other.

that pre melo team wasn't going anywhere
it was just half a season and we were still only 500
factor in how injury prone amare, wilson chandler and gallarini are, it would of been hell

We don't have a team, we have a cast of characters. That's the problem.

And you right, last season Woodson seemed calm, cool, and collected. This season just started and he seems on edge a little. Not a good look.

team was like 2 games over .500 at the all star break, lets not over exaggerate friends.

the problem wasnt even amares knees when melo got there, the demise began when he hurt his back doing a pre-game dunk before game 2 against the celtics in 2011. :snoop: especially after beasting in game one. that injury led him to bulking up over the summer which was a mistake because he lost all quickness and has been a shell ever since.

I agree, but what is Shump unhappy about? He just isn't a starter for a big team.

So true. And I actually meant to make my post in the Knicks thread.

Maybe these early losses will be a good thing. Maybe it forces a closed door meeting where dudes get things off their chest and allow the team to bond more.

Woody is on edge because Dolan made it that way. Firing Grunwald is huge because that's Woody's old college teammate. To me that sense of family of last year is done and Dolan pulled off the mask to show the devil he really is. His bottom line is 'I spent and billion dollars on a new arena and I expect to win now'. No more coddling, no rebuilding, no next year. Just win now or your fired. It's cold out there breh.

He's unhappy with his role. He's unhappy with how woody treats him. It goes back to summer league to me. He expects to be treated like a vet and he thinks they still act like he's a rookie. Think about how shump was last year. Everything was #knickstape 90's version. Shump growing his hair out, just being excited and vocal. Him cutting his hair this year is symbolic. It says to me that in his mind it's over and this is just business.
