As a future (hopefully progressive leader, you have to champion diversity...this is one notch under your belt for inevitable DEI questions in future interviews that drives home the point that you are committed to and can lead a diverse group of ppl

I get where you're coming from though

its a weird separation. If it was an initiative to help only homeless men, the replies would be a lot different in here

homeless is homeless, so its kinda weird to differentiate a helping cause. it's like only giving diapers and food to people in need with young daughters, but excluding the boys.. like yeah sorry, we know you need pampers and all but you have a son so kick rocks

:why:

I get it though.. homeless women are raped and face a whole other world of trouble than men, so I’m not mad at this

but at the end of the day, the lakers are 5-11 and need to trade Russell Westbrook

You sound just like a jaded CaC. One yourself.

These things tend to be championed by individuals who work to get company support. You’re welcome to champion a cause near and dear to your heart. But be forewarned, if you start to champion male homelessness or “all” homelessness in response to this, you will rightfully be labeled a bigot.

ya i completely agree women have it worse
but when i see homeless people I usually mostly see men

Not to say women being homeless is not a thing, you go around NY you'll see a few sleeping on cardboard boxes in the heat of the sun.

It just doesn't feel right I guess...
I only say all that to say, you’ll always leave someone excluded who needs help, unfortunately.

But, i’m sure if you brought this up to the company, they might be willing to participate in some way. Maybe for xmas.

I don’t understand the attack on the op. I think it’s a reasonable question. He didn’t say women shouldn’t be helped, he just questioned why women were the only benefactors when men suffer the same experiences, if not at a higher rate than women. Normally there is a reason why one group is targeted over others, and he just wants to know what it is.

If the reason is that homeless women tend to have children, then that would be a valid reason. But why is it wrong to ask the question. That’s part of the problem with society today. Dudes can’t even ask a question without being called a name. We’re doomed

Who or what's stopping the OP from helping homeless men on his own time?

If the job explicitly stated that any employee found to be assisting homeless men would be reprimanded, then there's a point to be raised.

The job never said that, so if it matters that much to the OP, that's all he has to do if he's sincere in seeking some sort of balanced justice.

Nah, not when he can log in to The Coli and use this situation to bıtch and moan for some daps and pats on the back from the rest of the Woman Hating Fellas!

Priorities, you know!

Gang violence...
no need to attack OP. this is a logical question. considering that men are more homeless than women, it is not wrong to wonder why they are being excluded from this charity. in this case, i would just say that women probably have a harder time being homeless since they tend to have more complicated medical issues and tend to be custodial parents more than homeless men. homeless women are probably also subject to rape and robbery far more than a homeless man would be.

any genderless charity may miss those nuances that affect women more than men, so it could be a good idea to sometimes focus specifically on women. it also could be a good idea to focus on the elderly next time.

This, all this. Smh

Well in my opinion, that distinction is probably borne from the flawed assumption that all homeless women are victims of circumstances like an abusive relationship, as opposed to homeless men that just don't want to work or are drunks. One side gains from societal benefit of doubt while the other is blamed as the source of their current condition.

This is a silly thing to make a thread about
Have you seen any, shyt pretty much all, of his other threads?

Either way, there are homeless shelters for only women, just like there are some for just men. Your company happens to be partnering with one of the women's organizations. How is this a big deal?
