I've watched the film 4 times, read Graysmith's book, dug around the internet. I always keep going back to it.

To me, it's far more interesting than all the other serial killer cases because there's about 3 suspects that could have legitimately done the killings. A new suspect was brought forth last month but the circumstantial evidence isn't as strong.

For those who want to do some reading:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zodiac_Killer

This website (warning: it plays sound automatically and was made in the late 90s) has a real good collection and scans of the killer's letters and ciphers (some of which has never been cracked):

The site above also has a good summary of the evidence on all likely suspects (Allen and Gaikoswki) being the main ones, and Marshall being third most likely.

Here's one of the unsolved ciphers:

Here is someone claiming to have solved it (in dispute):

The disputed results:

Those old 90's sites with the music were creepy as fukk. Used to keep me up at night and shyt.

That supposedly solved cipher is pretty fukked up too. Reads legit to me though (in terms of being psychotic).

Have you tried cracking the code?

The solved cipher above is widely discredited. They say the person who solved it took a lot of liberties with the decryption, and it seems he has.

A good chunk of people think Allen is not the killer, despite the absurd amount of circumstantial evidence (including telling someone he was going to murder people and call himself Zodiac). Graysmith thinks Allen was the killer but he doesn't rule out anyone else. A handful of people think Allen and someone else (maybe Gaikoswki?) worked together. The latter would explain why one victim pointed to Allen's picture in 1992 as the shooter despite a police sketch looking more like Gaikoswki. The whole thing is weird as hell.

Yea..my prevailing opinion is that there were more than one person involved.

Same with the Jack the Ripper..i think there were more than one doing all those killings too, perhaps pushed by the monarchy or a group of aristocrats. The region in which Jack killed was previously looked down upon for it's unsavory nature.

What intrigues me more about this case is that it is relatively modern. There are still case files open on some of the murders. You have technology (although a bit primitive in the late 60s and early 70s), multiple agencies (including Federal), and some of the suspects just recently died. Add all that with the occult/encryption side of the murders, along with the killer(s) openly taunting the police and public (including actually calling into a live TV show) makes it seem surreal in some ways.

I saw the movie and it was dope, my dad used to tell me stories about it cause he was growing up in the area where all the murders were happening. Do you ever think they will find out who did it or will this be like Jack the Ripper and that we will never truly know?

The movie is called Zodiac.

It's on Netflix I believe.
just watched it, i'm curious to ask, what made this movie so interesting to you that you had to watch it four times? am i missing something? I mean I get that it's unsolved but.. I can't help but feeling like something is going over my head :patrice:
