These Owens-Cena matches are overrated as fukk to me cause of all the finisher kickouts.. like I was cracking up when Cena "couldn't believe" that Owens kicked out of the first AA. Like nikka NOBODY gets pinned by that shyt anymore, why are you surprised?

Three AA's... three pop-up powerbombs... come on man :scust:

The AA dun crossed into Angle Slam territory... nikkas done kicked out of the Angle Slam so much it became as common as a regular suplex for King Kurt.

Back in the day you when a dude hit his finisher it was OVER. Maybe you get one flash kickout to add some serious drama, but that was very rare, and if he ever hit the finisher again it was 100% over.

WWE is too stuck in this finisher kickout bullshyt.. if they wanted to get creative they could have Owens/Cena keep escaping from the others finisher, but that would take more creativity than just "ok let's have him kick out of the AA again"

IMO the way to do false finishes and STILL protect the kayfabe of the power of the finishing moves is what they do/did in Japan. ROH does it too. Most wrestlers have more than 1 move that they can finish a match with. So they may have a striking move, a slam/buster/driver/cutter/bomb type of move, a high flying move, and a submission. Also for bigger events/matches, they will sometimes do new moves or a more powerful version of their typical finisher.

So when Misawa can't finish with his regular Tiger Driver, he would break out the Tiger Driver 91, which dropped the opponent more on the back of their head/neck instead of their back. There are countless examples.

You get the idea. A perfect example that could've worked last night would've been for Cena to get the pinfall with more of a death valley driver once he picked Owens up with the fireman's carry instead of doing the regular AA, since Owens already kicked out of the first AA. So the crowd thinks it's another AA, but it looks more powerful, shows that Cena had to adjust to a new move to finish Owens, and it doesn't make the AA look lame by having Owens kick out of it twice in a non Wrestlemania match.

Your point about Angle is a good one. The Angle Slam was legit for the first couple of years then it got devalued.

The modification thing is also true. When Kurt moved to the Ankle Lock people still escaped from it, but you knew once he grapevined that leg then shyt was OVER

I said the same thing. Its not a good match by default just because they keep kicking out of finishers, all that really does is devalue the finishers. Cena hits AA, owens kicks out. Owens lands AA on Cena, cena kicks out. 4 more AAs later we have a winner. :camby:

give him like Chris Sabin's old Cradle Shock move.... but he only busts it out against major opponents.

I like it, but they'd feel that it devalues the AA or whatever. But it WOULD make it seem like wrstlers may have trained harder for those bigger matches. Cant have Orton get KO'ed from an AA 2 weeks before a PPV then kick out of 4 with no explanation.

Maybe give him like a top rope version of the AA? Where he does it, but comes off the first or second rope.

Last night's match was not overrated.. They did things in that match we'd never thought we would see in a John Cena match... Finishers not meaning anything anymore is better, it makes the ending a lot more unpredictable, for me at least.

Except for the part where it still ends with their same ol finisher. It just takes 3 tries now
