I stepped away from a job for a year. Did freelance got back in school started working on my music again. I felt much better mentally and spiritually trying to figure out where my next was gonna come from and sometimes barely making it vs waking up everyday, going and clocking in being around folks I don’t wanna be around and don’t fukk with just to have a guaranteed check. Dead time on the job is the worst as well because I could be putting work in for MY life rather than standing around doing nothing.

This is my struggle right now. Driving 40 minutes to sit around and look dumb. I have chores at home I could be knocking out.

Sometimes i wish i had a 9-5 and i still apply to some openings when i see them but im content for now owning my condo and working like 20 hrs a week from september-may then like 10 hrs per week tops from june-august

I just bought some classes from udemy during the memorial day sale and am looking to parlay that into a remote IT job eventually. Idk

Im making enough to pay the bills and save a little bit..plus i have a roommate that pays me rent plus half of all utilities..but idk i kinda feel like a bum sometimes

On the other hand my stress level is like zero
Breh you're doin shyt right...paid off crib that's generating income and only working 10 hours / week during the summer? :banderas:

Whatever you do beyond that is all gravy. You're ahead of 95%+ of cats out here right now. Most don't even get 2 weeks vacation a year...and even if they did they can't afford to use it, they need as much overtime as they can get just to stay afloat :towelmax:

This is the most obvious thing to do

Even if you work for yourself you’ll be working more than 9-5 most times

I don’t know if it’s modern society or what, but find a job/career you like and don’t mind working.

I work in cyber security and analyse malware/digital forensics. It’s my interest and hobby. I study and read books on it and do it in work. It’s my 9-5 and I like it

So you love digital forensics? im working in IT overseas and i have way over 6 certs to say the least. Does your company have jobs overseas? Im trying to work in cyber security but dont want to go home

Ebay is my main breadwinner right now. I regularly have $500-$1000 days on there. Making what would be a week's pay at my old job in one day. Shopify is second in line. Whenever I run my Facebook ads it's pretty much guaranteed sales for me. The subscription pays for itself. My first Ebay store (1200+ listings) is doing so good I just started a second Ebay store and I anticipate that to be bigger than my first one. This month I coached 2 people for free to help them get started on Ebay and I had 2 more people on Instagram message me for help so I might start charging for that too. There's money in everything if you got the eye for it. None of this happened overnight. It took a lot of work on my part and a lot of trying to figure shyt out but I knew what I wanted.

I guarantee everybody in this thread with a 9-5 has a skill that they can monetize. Find out what that is, package it in the form of an online course and it might make more than that job you're working. Ya'll should really visit the "6 Figures, 6 Certs" forum. A lot of free game being dropped in there daily.

Word, what kind of items do you sell in your ebay store?

shyt seems very unnatural. Problem is, not everyone is meant to be a leader. In order to lead, a lot of folks must follow.

Remote work or a mix of "in office" and remote though, especially if either option pays great :obama:

Got to build the skills for that though. I got into software engineering pretty much because of that. This route takes sacrifice though - if you here posting all day or on other sites and not building desired skills, that 9 to 5 door is waiting for you.

Life can be tough though and at times you have to vent, so that's understood, but then you got to realize at some point you have to put the work in regardless of if you feel like you want to or not. I'm almost positive some folks' routine is 9 to 5 -> posting on the coli or watching a movie/show/game (then posting about it) when they get home and repeat.

There’s only two choices: keep doing it or break the cycle. Chances are the best time to build skills would be when you get home, so you know what you have to do - that's personal responsibility and taking your life into your own hands. Sometimes you need to note where you’re spending time and how much of it is being lost. If you spend half or more of the time after work learning skills, by the end of a year you roughly have nearly 1000 hours of it as experience (assuming 3-4 hours of effort per work day). Again, two choices: build skills or throw those hours away. ~1000 hours of attained knowledge/skills vs no growth are the only two options per year, period. Nobody can do it for you (see my sig).

Folks that have a satisfactory life have one way or another put in that work, otherwise they’re extremely lucky. I’ve literally seen people spend days ranting and arguing (on both sides) about one of Drake’s achievements, does this sound like time well spent? Folks bringing up shyt from like 2-3 months ago and wondering why they mad all the time or got a chip on their shoulder. Time and energy that could have been used more productively elsewhere.

Seriously, after taking all that into consideration and you still refuse to give up your comfort zone/stagnant lifestyle but still want to rant about it, then you got to ask yourself wtf it is you’re scared of. 90% of the time it’s some stupid shyt too. Folks will cry because of a little mental effort but come on, you owe it to yourself to show some more heart.

Even better is having investments stacked though that will produce income to sustain lifestyle. Saving money, having a better financial stream, research, etc. all play a role into that.

This shyt is perfectly designed to squeeze just enough life out of you that you have just enough energy left for the weekend..Then the break is short enough just to recharge enough to go back to the start of the process all over again. You're never fully exhausted but never fully rested

Thats why I quit that bullshyt. I drive Uber now, and interact with people far less. Ironically, I feel more socially connected because the interactions I do have are genuine.

I worked a year in a restaurant and saw the same motherfukkers every day. We talked so much and yet we never said a damn thing to each other.

But Im not trying to glamorize driving 6 hours a day and making 17$ an hour. Its only slightly better

:whoa::whoa::whoa::whoa: @DEAD7 I know what it looks like but don't get any ideas breh.

Honestly that post kinda convinced me to be evil. A 7 dollar raise made those dweebs give up the only thing giving them power.

I bet being evil is almost effortless in this era. :whew: @MMS
