What era are you comparing it to (70s, 80s, 90s, 00s) different skill sets, mid range is moved out to 23 feet...7 footers with handles now ...fadeaways have been almost relegated to stepbacks, floaters and eurosteps are perfected. Point guard layup packages are incredible. Bigs on the block have taken a big hit. baby hooks, bank shots are almost non-existent. Hard to compare but I try not to dwell in nostalgia. You wont really enjoy anything past your high-school/college days if you do.

So you use a 21 year old in his 3rd season that’s not even 200lbs failing a post up opportunity as your example as to why players today aren’t more skilled than ever?
Its actually a great example. While not every player that came in to the NBA could post up like MJ could from the get go, in the past most players did know the basics of posting up and could easily take advantage of a smaller defender
