you must of read wrong every country in the Olympics for basketball is using professional players, the US sends all star teams because it can. The US shouldn't hold back on its talent pool just to make other countries feel better about themselves.

No country does that in any sport.

what? More like America has too much pride to lose? I read a big article on this yesterday when I was curious about this same question...They really pushed for the rule changes in the 80s when they couldnt win and thats when they got the first Team USA all star team..Read numerous articles, I just wanted to hear what you all had to say

Every other country sends professionals too, I dont know what you're on about. Are you British or just not a basketball fan? The other medal contenders( Spain, Argentina etc) all have NBA or EuroLeague players there are no amateurs.

Yo, ya'll are obviously not understanding, i watch the basketball in olympics obviously they are using NBA players, they have to use them in order to be somewhat competitive in to the USA. Why do we have to bring the best players in every position is my question? Is it even fair? how many pro's were in the 80s before the USA implemented this rule change in the olympics?

Russia were sending a squad with Sabonis, sonning the Admirial.

It's not like we cans end Ewing and Jordan like we did in 84

I don't think you're understanding what they are saying....

Those other countries ARE using their best players from THEIR OWN professional teams. Then players from the NBA go back to their home countries and play too.

The difference is...
1)The talent isn't as good over there and
2)They are allowed to play professional ball at a much younger age than in the US

They all professionals its just that America have better players, they have 5-6 players to pick from compare to other countries 1 per position.

And most of the Americans who play in Europe arent good enough to start in the NBA for the worst teams. Plus Euroball is a different game more slower in all facets.

Didn't the America vote against allowing pros to play on the team?

We tried to warn 'em :manny:

Sterns is trying get the rule change to only allow NBA players under 23 to play after this Olympics. As long as the other countries don't claim to be the best in basketball if they beat a USA team when they know our best players are not playing, we won't send the dream team to prove a point...
