Nah, he needs to win at least 3 championships to get into that range.

I don't think he'll win as many chips as Bron, Steph, Kobe, Duncan, etc. So these MVPs are his consolation prizes in the event his career ends with 1 or 2 chips on top of the uncertainty that he even plays as long as some of the others.

Jokic doesn't strike me as a guy who's going to continue playing into his late 30s like Kobe, MJ, Bron, KD, Steph, etc...wouldn't be surprised if he'd retire much earlier especially IF he can win another championship as he seems like the type who's satisfied with what he has in terms of hardware just to be back home in his country with his family and horses.

I could see him retiring as early as 32-33 years old.

He's going to be top 10 all-time in 2-3 years at this rate.

Honestly would not be surprised if he ends up over Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Magic, Bird, and Wilt. :manny:

If Jokic gets #2 I think he immediately catapults into top 10-12 all time:

1. Jordan
2. Bron
3. Magic
4. Kareem
5. Kobe
6. Duncan
7. Steph
8. Shaq
9. Jokic if he wins this year
10. Wilt
11. Russell
12. Hakeem
13. Bird
14. KD

Duncan, Jokic, Kobe and Steph over Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell???

Honestly, a tier system would be better than an all time list.

Because having Wilt, Russell, Oscar, and West anywhere on a top 15 is blasphemy depending on the person.

Those 4 players should just have their own OG mount Rushmore and leave it at that. Would also free up more spots for modern players.

Barring injury, Jokic is going to be at least a borderline top-15 player whether he wins this year or not. We've seen who he is and there's no reason to think he won't maintain this level of play for an additional 5+ years or more. There aren't 15 players in NBA history who have been this good, this consistently, this early in their career.

How is Jokic top 15-20 if he only wins one chip?

There are only 12 players in all of NBA history with 2 or more Finals MVPs, and two of them are Kawhi and Willis Reed who no one ranks like that. Before Finals MVP era you can add Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain, ain't no one else with multiple titles pre-1970 who is going in the top-20.

So even if Jokic only finishes his career with 1 title, you HAVE to put around 7-8 players into your top-20 who were only the man for 1 chip. Easy to see how Jokic has a case for being one of them.

My prediction is that people are about to stop doing Top Whatever Lists and pivot to Tiers. It’s getting too crowded and agendas are falling apart
Eventually this would happen. The NBA is a relatively young league. Every 20 years a new GOAT conversation candidate comes up and the top 10 becomes less and less easily identified as players begin to rack up similar accolades as previous hall of famers

He's on the path to Top 10 status but it's too early to start putting him on that list. Dude hasn't even hit 15k points for his career yet.

His career average stats ironically seem closest to Magic Johnson.....(20/7/11 for Magic versus 21/11/7 for Jokic).
