But thats the THIRD GAME of the series. They've had time to rehash and tweak. Tomb Raider is a reboot, brand new only a year old.
Tomb Raider and Drake's Fortune have nearly identical ratings. With Tomb Raiders being slightly better and they both debuted on last gen consoles.

Man. That's totally backwards to me. I thought the cutscene drake was much different than the one in gameplay. He's supposed to be a kinda care free adventure type with morals, but indiscriminately kills hundreds of people. They don't even attempt to give any type of narrative justification for it. It just is what it is, and another thing that bothered me is where the hell did all the enemies come from? I'm supposed to be this great adventurer using my unique skills to access treasure, but every single time the bad guys are standing right next to it. What door did they come in? What are my skills worth if hundreds of peons make it to the treasure before me?
With tomb raider at least they tried to give some story context as to why she turned into a killer and her reactions during the gameplay lend some humanity to all of the ridiculousness she was doing. In combat especially at the beginning of the game, you did feel a bit underpowered and helpless at times especially melee combat. She was a total badass by the end, but at least they tried to give some reasoning behind it. I.e.being caged, almost raped, and fighting for her life.
Older Laura has been through this before which is why her reaction isthis was supposed to be the reason why old Laura was able to just scoff at a T-Rex
What a load of pseudo intellectual garbage and you don't don't even believe that tripe yourself anyway.Those men that Drake fights are mercenaries,pirates,murderers, monsters who have likely killed others before even encountering Drake. Talking as if Drake is murdering innocent people and removing all context from these situations. The second half about the great adventurer stuff is just a load of horse shyt that isn't even worthy of a response.
As for Laura, that bytch goes from shivering little girl to Charles Bronson in Death Wish. Sticking chisels in dudes heads and shyt once you upgrade her skills. Her killing being justified and Drake's being scorned is shameless selective reasoning. Traveling around the world and using her families wealth and resources to rob graves and take from temples just for the fun on it. She don't even need the money from it.

Doesn't matter if they are murderers. The cutscenes would have you believe drake is not. Drake never reacts to any of the carnage in any meaningful way. He is totally disconnected from the gameplay.
And the adventurer stuff is not "horse shyt" y'all always claim the story is so great. Well the story goes that he's a smart and amazingly skilled ADVENTURER. If the story went that you were a bad ass mercenary and you didn't get to kill anybody that'd be just as stupid.
Never said hers were "justified" I said the devs at least tried to give some narrative to it.
There's a similar criticism to be aimed at both games. It's funny how you call it "pseudo intellectual garbage" when it come to drake. But a totally valid criticism when aimed at Laura.
