Yea right there on Bloomfield Ave, I found it back in da day while taking a chic to the abortion clinic down the road. Crocketts got some good seafood. I try to go once a month but they expensive. Yea she did have some what of an attitude when I picked her up from work because she mad I didn't take out something to defrost although she was the one that said she was gonna cook which was some petty shyt cause we could always just order out or something. Her level of pissitivity manifested itself into her being an annoying backseat driver while I was driving her car on Rt280 dipping in and out of traffic just to take her home quickly because she had a long day at work plus been going through some female issues.

So we sitting here in the living room and eating dinner. She happened to buy dinner tonight (fried fish from Crockettes in Montclair NJ) because she didn't take anything out to defrost this morning to make or I could make. So I'm sitting down flipping through the channels for something to watch and I settled on ABC to check the news out or watch Jeopardy afterwards. She fixed me a plate of food, which was some fried whiting. I said "thanks Babe" then got up to get some hot sauce to put on the coffee table for us to use plus get her some electrolyte water to drink. Now what occurred after us finish eating is what pissed me off. I finished my meal, she was done with hers too so I got up with my plate and went over to where she was sitting to get her plate. I stood in front of her and asked her to give me her plate but she did not respond to my request for the plate so I motioned with my hand to give me the plate but she kept looking at the TV. I eventually asked again then she gave me her plate. As I was leaving to go to the kitchen she said "why you aint just bend down and get the plate?". I said "what you just say?", she responded by saying "why didn't you just bend down and get the plate". . I let it ride for maybe 20 seconds while I was in the kitchen scraping the bones in the trash and was thinking then I got pissed even more about it Then came back and sat down and she asked "why you seem tight"? I said "what you said awhile ago was disrespectful", she asked "how was it disrespectful?" I said, "all you had to do was just give me the plate so I could take it but for whatever reason you saw fit to ask me to bend down and get it, I don't bend down to no one". She then was like "there you go with that manly stuff. I was like "what manly stuff, I just felt I was disrespected and it has nothing to do with manly stuff" She then was like "if I disrespected you, I apologize, i know its things you Jamaican men don't tolerate", then I said "ok apology accepted" but now she all tight and silent. Now i don't know what prompted her words but I also don't want her to take certain liberties with me. Yes I do speak my mind but at times my words do cut and I come off insensitive and cold due to my years of being HOH's. I already know the answer but was I wrong for checking her?

Real men that intend on leading are gonna set precedents in their household, and that's pretty much the bottom line imo....

You are right....I never understood the point of doing that. I have seen women plan out how they are going to test their man. Some people enjoy knowing how much control they can have over a person. To start a fight over something like that is just petty, especially for a grown woman. Looking beyond the surface it also shows that she probably has an underdeveloped mind and she is not all there. I could be wrong, but it also reveals that she is full of insecurities. People who seek to find trouble with others have a hard time dealing with their personal demons so they find joy in starting problem with other people. ESPECIALLY people who are nice and respectful towards them. When you call them out on their bullshyt they look at you like you are strange. Trust and believe, if he did not call her out on her mess she would be think, "mmhmm I got this dude. I'll make him my bytch". Seems silly to others, but seeing an emasculated man is literally one of the saddest things to watch.

I am the same way. Too many women nowadays from the jump don't have respect or give respect to men (especially blk women). They intentionally take men thru the burning sands for no reason but to test, tamper and pry at our inner being and if men don't pass the test then they end up being called all kinda "bytch nikka" "p*ssy", any little shyt like that to emasculate you.

i don't think OP is in the wrong but it could have been handled differently. when she asked you why you didn't take it, you should have just said cause you didn't feel like bending and then instruct her to not be passive aggressive by ignoring your requests whether minor or major. tell her when you ask her to do something, either do it or say no but not to ignore you (that's where the real disrespect was IMO). i think your mistake was to go back in and just act tight without checking her (unless you were collecting your thoughts in order to be more righteous when the time to break it down to her would come).

I agree. I waited to gather my thoughts. My emotions show on my face, I don't have a poker face so she could tell she had hit a nerve but yeah I learned to not react quickly and blurt out whats on my mind but rather to gather my thoughts then speak rationally
