So we sitting here in the living room and eating dinner. She happened to buy dinner tonight (fried fish from Crockettes in Montclair NJ) because she didn't take anything out to defrost this morning to make or I could make. So I'm sitting down flipping through the channels for something to watch and I settled on ABC to check the news out or watch Jeopardy afterwards. She fixed me a plate of food, which was some fried whiting. I said "thanks Babe" then got up to get some hot sauce to put on the coffee table for us to use plus get her some electrolyte water to drink. Now what occurred after us finish eating is what pissed me off. I finished my meal, she was done with hers too so I got up with my plate and went over to where she was sitting to get her plate. I stood in front of her and asked her to give me her plate but she did not respond to my request for the plate so I motioned with my hand to give me the plate but she kept looking at the TV. I eventually asked again then she gave me her plate. As I was leaving to go to the kitchen she said "why you aint just bend down and get the plate?". I said "what you just say?", she responded by saying "why didn't you just bend down and get the plate". . I let it ride for maybe 20 seconds while I was in the kitchen scraping the bones in the trash and was thinking ...then I got pissed even more about it Then came back and sat down and she asked "why you seem tight"? I said "what you said awhile ago was disrespectful", she asked "how was it disrespectful?" I said, "all you had to do was just give me the plate so I could take it but for whatever reason you saw fit to ask me to bend down and get it, I don't bend down to no one". She then was like "there you go with that manly stuff. I was like "what manly stuff, I just felt I was disrespected and it has nothing to do with manly stuff" She then was like "if I disrespected you, I apologize, i know its things you Jamaican men don't tolerate", then I said "ok apology accepted" but now she all tight and silent. Now i don't know what prompted her words but I also don't want her to take certain liberties with me. Yes I do speak my mind but at times my words do cut and I come off insensitive and cold due to my years of being HOH's. I already know the answer but was I wrong for checking her?

Don't listen to most these clowns breh, no you wasn't wrong for what you said to her let her know you felt disrespected and in the future don't let it happen...

You are 100% correct. I have seen it take place many times. Don't get me wrong. I have also seen men take advantage of a woman's kindness. With that being said, a lot of women will do as much as a man allows her to do. If he did not let her know that she was out of line she would have tested him many times over, and even take joy in disrespecting him.Eventually she WILL she start messing around with another man. I just left my job at a cosmetic place. One of of my former coworkers prided herself on how she would cuss out her boyfriend and start drama with him. She is messing around with another guy some stores over and she always laughs about how she test's him, and how he wants to be with her. My boyfriend is also a very laid back guy, but if I tried to disrespect him or test him on some petty stuff he would bounce immediately. Stay away from women who want to test your laid back personality and kindness. Those are the type of women who believe that a man does not truly love them unless he is cussing them out, beating them, or doing something crazy to them. In other words they are crazy.

We're 2 adults shyt can be worked out without it going that far. If it happens again I'm gone. We've been good ever since. That was some yrs ago. I don't want my girl to be afraid of me. She just gotta respect me. That's how we started and that's how its gonna be. If not i know ima catch and it's someone else out there. I try to keep myself up to where she knows I'm not no slouch. She knows what she has and i know what I have. Valuing yourself is important too. Im not tryna sound conceited just knowing my self worth. Once u have that that respect will be earned without much words or aggression being displayed.
