Jimmy Jean Louis appears in some of the Ghanaian and Nigerian films.

I went to a Ghanian shop to buy barrel for my aunt, looked through the DVDs and said, wow that actor looks like JJL. It was him.

If you look hard enough, you can see it once a day. Sometimes it's one long strain. Another time it's a group of it. I thought about and since I'm not a dermatologist I can't call it but I thought (being an American) there's plenty of ways to remove it. I seen it on a couple cuties as well. It would be palpable if they were ugly bu unfortunately they weren't. Hairly legs are here as well. Both disgusting and disturbing.

Could be a monetary thing then.

Day 214

Women here are highly overrated. There's a lot of bleaching coupled with a lot of bad weaves. Another thing you'll see if peach fuzz on their chins. Yes; peach fuzz. And I'm talking about young women, not old and decrepit women. The bleaching really fukks up the skin because alot of them still work in the sun. You can easily tell by looking at the face, hands (elbows too) and feet. Their peak beauty is at 15 -21. Why so young? :sitdown:because they do't have the money to buy bleaching cream and weaves. Girls are't allow o grow their hair while attending school so they get an edge/shape-up/fade, simple earrings and maximize their natural beauty before they get old enough to fucc it all up. It isn't all but just enough.

Cos of living is cheap. Really cheap. Like not even 1000 a year for an apartment and that's pushing it.
:patrice: have you lived or visit any other part or parts of Africa? Out of all the cities/counties you visit/lived in what was the best for you? If you're Africa American?

Nope you're wrong. First, foreign yes but not Western. Most of the people here presume I'm Nigerian. Even the Nigerians do: from the hoes to straight shooters. The get an array of faces. I once told a guy I'm american and he still called me one. This includes the police as well. You kneegoes who've never travel to Ghana and been outside the tourist area need to understand the second you tell them you're an American, they want you to be a sponsor. Dudes here have NO problem asking you to buy them drinks while the girls may allude they need a smartphone. There is no family reunion for the descendants of slaves here. Also, I was't coming here expecting models just not so many bleachers and hair-hats. And no bankroll hasn't diminished. Thank god for this exchange rate. I'm going to be just as presumptuous with you as you've been with me: Maybe you like being flashy to get heauxs and "friends" to flex on the 'gram but I know better. Truly a man who's well-traveled wouldn't say what you just said.

With such a low cost of living, how is the quality of services/utilities?
Is there a live music scene out there?
Is there an expat community?

I don't work. I do HVAC back home and was able to save $20k. Single and childless ad relatively debt-free so it was easier, if you will. I've gained at least 10 lbs since arriving here to Ghana. Nothing to be proud of just stating a fact. I'm currently at "hotel" @ lil less than $10/night and to answer @Mr Rager , this ain't America. The architecture is very uninspiring. The built-quality and attention to detail is non-existent. Lights so off occasionally, Sometimes you see a build of a building that's CLEARLY not straight, leveled and/or squared. It's as if things a built and cut by eyeball, not by measuring tape. Bathroom doors with no knobs, showers with no curtain, toilets with no seats. Buildings a painted once ad maybe never repainted again. Erosion here in Kumasi is unworldly. Rill and gully erosion in urban settings. My goodness. :hhh::picard:.

Is there opportunities to make money? Yes. Good restaurant(s) seems to do well since customer service and fresh hot food is a privilege here, not a right. If there's one hing Ghanaians didn't take form their former colonial masters was their business plans/model and acumen. Trust me when I tell you this. Ghana hasn' poential but not as progressive as people make it out to be. This ain't SA.

Good thread. I would be disgusted by the fuzzy/hairy chins as well. Some cats on The-Coli had a thread here not too long ago where they were overwhelmingly okay with women with hairy arms and all that (it kind of disgusted me). If it's a genetic condition and a person loves that chick, maybe y'all could work it out, but other than that...nah.

Not sure if you made a thread about it, but any more info. on your experience in El Choco and in Cali?

Yes I can. Before I continue, it needs to be understood that the only reason why I ever traveled to Colombia was to see our people there. Everybody has a preference but I'm not those brothers who like a light, bright and damn near White. Those two cities you mentioned have very high number of African people there especially the former. Chocó is the African heart of Colombia. And I've noticed that a place in Colombia will have a higher number of black people then the United States. For example Choco is over 80% African. Colombia is not the Dominican Republic. IMO, that place seems to be a one-off. Chocó is a placew here people can be undeniably and unapologetically black. Anybody who is not ADOS will be quickly familiar with the African culture there. From seeing sister carry items on the top of their head to seeing children pound rice and other things in the countryside. I would implore people to go on YouTube and search San Pancho festival in Chocó.

Cali, on your other hand, is the city with the largest number of black people according to the census bureau of Colombia. Because Cali is one of the largest cities in Colombia, you will always find a black person from anywhere of the Pacific Coast in that city. The sisters are beautiful there and there is a lot of culture as well. But I also need to stay that Brothers get real, real busy out there. Because I'm a black man that doesn't go to tourist destinations around the country, I was very fortunate to have little to no problems especially when I stumbled in the hood. I followed the g-code and respected myself my surroundings and everyone else. and when they were times people asked me where I was from based on my bad Spanish I just told them I'm Haitian escaping political upheaval and they gave me a pass. If you want to be around black people and African culture, Cartagena and Cali, Quibdó are the spots. Want to be around mestizas and white women, it's Medellin and Bogota. Juss don't play yourself and act like our people don't suffer in that society because they do.
