Go past a number two guard on your hair and you have to really take care of it especially if you want long hair. Shea butter is made in West Africa you can get that shyt by the bucket full in Ghana. But that shyt in Kenya costs like 20 dollar s a pound, you need deep conditioners apple cider vinegar and shyt like that. It's cheaper to get some braids or a weave. At least in East Africa you'll see chicks rocking a short 'fro here and there. But the average chick doesn't have the money to properly manage natural hairstyles.

I agree but it's like trying to kick knowledge to an African. I had an ex girlfriend who went to EL Mina in Ghana, she was disgusted. It was a tourist trap and no acknowledgement of the genocide that happened there. There's a collective amnesia about it. You try to have a conversation about the slave trade and it will make an ardent pan Africanist start sounding like Tariq Nasheed. If I were in say London or new york on a layover and I wanted to get some free euro backpacker p*ssy I'd get room in a hostel. But in Africa in most places you. An get a nice Airbnb or cheaper than hostel in a high priced country.

Don't play attention to that clown. Your talking about a $100 USD a night for a 4-star esp. in Accra. Another thing: the hostels here, at least in Kumasi, aren't your traditional hostels. Mine had a bed, sizable with with it own bed and bath. The difference is in name and legal reason from what I've been told. There were or are no mixed gendered, mutli-bed rooms that I know of in the city. Hostels are generally meant for students and are rented per the semester.

This dude spent only a few days in the main hub of the country where all the action, opportunities, nightlife, and main development for the near future will be, then spent the majority of his time in some far out mini cities that are still 10+ years away. The only reason he did this was because he was traveling broke and didn't want to break his small budget.

You spend the majority of your time where all the action is then check out the smaller spots for a few days

Damn I don't know homie to be defending him but one thing I can say about Africa unless you're staying at 5 star spots or Safari lodges (which cost a grip) you will be disappointed. You just ain't gonna get the customer service at an African hotel that you would expect even at a decent motel 6. You'd be way better off staying at Airbnb's.

People who want to move to africa do tend to head to the bush, to keep it real it's the city life that will piss you off.

I heard that the deluxe apartment in the sky I stayed at had the water out for two days after I moved out. Right before I did my pipes where clogged and they wanted me to pay to replace them.

Frankly it's better to rough it in a village than to get a nice place in the city and be pissed off when it's fukked up.

This is why hostels were a better value because the quality doesn't necessarily follow cost. This isn't the west or an international hotel chain. This is local people using local business blueprints and business models. You'd think (and maybe there is, I don't know) there was a Ghanaian that worked in hospitality industry in the Developed countries that saw what a world-class (not white or western) hotel is, designed and ran like, only to bring it back to Ghana. I know there are but not already here. As Thomas Sowell said: there's no solutions, just compromises.

You can live way cheaper in the "third world* but you need a budget and you need to figure out if you can live there. So it's better to rough it at first and upgrade once you figure the place out.

For example in the most exclusive parts of Nairobi there was a huge scandal. Some of the richest areas ain't on the grid so they had septic tanks and boreholes (wells) that pumped water into there houses.

Turned out the people who cleaned their tanks and brought them drinking water formed a cartel to fix prices. That wasn't the problem the people could afford it. The issue was they took the shyt and dumped it where ever and the used the same trucks to bring them their drinking water.

I was glad I was on the grid.

When I go to Colombia I'm gonna get a superhost Airbnb for a couple of days move around to some other ones then offer a deal to each one basically making them bid for my business. I avoid tricking so I can save a fortune there. Plan to pay around 15 bucks a night or less depending on the market.
