Its not about womens beauty, its about self image.

Its literally the same as the skin-bleaching argument.

You nikkaz spend WAAAY too much time concerned about how other people are living. I'm proud of being black, my parents were proud of being black, and my kids will be proud of being black, anyone who is black and hates that aspect of themselves has a terrible life to live but it is THEIR burden.

Hey...if women want to live how they want, thats on them...

but ain't no need to front like there isn't a larger elephant in the room about how black women view THEIR hair.

Black men ( not all of course) say they like natural hair but they really like that mixed chick 3A-4B hair texture
curly%20hair.jpg

not that 4C hair

So true. I have 3c hair, but even still I have been told I need to tame my hair, that my hair is not done, etc... Where I am from bad = 16 in virgin remy, lashes, Mac "face beat" and some tights and a crop top.

....Too bad man.

Women gotta start standing up for basic shyt like that.

Its LITERALLY something you can't change.
remember this... news anchor fired for natural hair look
rhonda2.jpg

viewers were complaining :beli:

the black lady that does the news is a very nice lady.the only thing is she needs to wear a wig or grow some more hair. im not sure if she is a cancer patient. but still its not something myself that i think looks good on tv. what about letting someone a male have waist long hair do the news.what about that (cq).”

That same day Lee responded:

“Hello Emmitt–I am the ‘black lady’ to which you are referring. I’m sorry you don’t like my ethnic hair. And no I don’t have cancer. I’m a non-smoking, 5’3, 121 lbs, 25 mile a week running, 37.5 year old woman, and I’m in perfectly healthy physical condition.I am very proud of my African-American ancestry which includes my hair. For your edification: traditionally our hair doesn’t grow downward. It grows upward. Many Black women use strong straightening agents in order to achieve a more European grade of hair and that is their choice. However in my case I don’t find it necessary. I’m very proud of who I am and the standard of beauty I display. Women come in all shapes, sizes, nationalities, and levels of beauty. Showing little girls that being comfortable in the skin and HAIR God gave me is my contribution to society. Little girls (and boys for that matter) need to see that what you look like isn’t a reason to not achieve their goals.“Conforming to one standard isn’t what being American is about and I hope you can embrace that.“Thank you for your comment and have a great weekend and thank for watching.

her reply :salute:

Subjective means OPINION.
You said Style is subjective.
But style is your OPTIONS of hair.
So it's nothing to do with Subjective :rudy:

This again makes no sense.

Style is how you rock it.

And I don't know what you mean by "options"...flip it how you want, but stop acting like you have "fewer" options.

This topic is played out,
Black men prefer black women hair in their natural state,
But not enough to cause a disturbance in a relationship,
Which is why we semi accept weave,
There is a video on YouTube that have a group of young black women expressing their disdain for natural hair, they all stated that it is unprofessional in the workplace and in the real world, basically they are admitting to live up to the standards of western beauty that was created and place on them by white society, again black men would like for black women to wear natural hair styles, but know that majority will not and we just accept them wearing weaves, again black men do not make black women wear weaves, it's a choice by women to do so,
Most black women do not even know or begin to study their very own growth and course of hair, their mothers taught them how not to care for their natural hair placed on them due to societies standards(cacs), again this is a validity issue, and most importantly who cares, either accept or find someone who meets your standards.

Black men only accept weaves because they don't have many options. I mean there are more girls going natural now but that still doesn't really leave enough women that can go up against the weave/relaxer girls. I'm pretty sure if it was more of an even playing field and natural girls weren't in the minority, black men would be dating us more and cause these women to go natural.

Why would one even care to go against another because of the personal hair choices they made?
I'm
Confused,
Are we talking about one of the many "validity" issues that plague are African American sisters, or are you talking about black women who wear weaves, wigs and perms that get all the brothers compared to natural sisters? Me personally I prefer a sister who is self aware and goes the natural route.
