my state doedsn't require bill of sales as far as i know.

just the title

Title transfer and registration are actually two different things. He could transfer the title and still not register the car for plates and keep the sellers. Thats why I said, report it lost/stolen. Most states actually don't require a bill of sale. So long as the buyer has the signed title, he can register the car. The bill of sale was mostly used to show them how much you paid for a vehicle so they can appropriately tax you depending on what you paid. People got hip and started having bill of sales for amounts lower than they actually paid, thus lowering the tax. The states got hip and decided to base the taxes on the year of the vehicle registered which then made them not give a shyt about a bill of sale.
:yeshrug:

Yea I know it is 2 different things. I use to work in a dealership business office. I have seen people try to sale cars and they never got a new title with their name. They were riding dirty too. Some people never change the plate or register I had someone who, the previous owner had toll road tickets, they never registerd and he didn't report it so they could sale it to us until it was paid. There is a way to report it online here too that you sold the car. We gave the plates back to them. I use to do it for them as a courtesy.

In Texas you can't register the car without turnig over the one you signed at sale, and a bill of sale. They do the same thing you said as far as the taxes. People saying they bought the car for $1 :mjlol: The title is put in your name (finance companies name) Then you could choose to keep the plate or get new ones.

Sometime the registration is still good, and they just have it put in their name. Even for private sales I think you need a BoS my dad had to get one when he sold his a few months ago.

Saying all that to say lol, OP report it online quickly so you are covered even if he doesn't do the right thing.

yeah, he has the title, and i signed it.

i hope i'm good i just get a paranoid feeling sometimes.

and no, i never got his full name and forgot his first name instantly.

i got his cell number though and he still texted back after car was sold

Type his phone # in Facebook in the search bar. You will likely get his name from there.
