Everyone backed that crime bill except some republicans that thought it was too soft on crime.
People need to stop acting like this shyt wasn't spawned out of, amongst other things, the black caucus complaining about there being zero police in black neighborhoods. Coli freaking out over some shooting today when in the early 90s, Chicago probably had a 3 times higher murder rate than today. NY about 10 times higher.
It was a bunch of school shootings, terrorist shyt going on, gang culture exploding, crack, zombies, so everybody and there mother was screaming for it. This was one of the reasons to why people were calling calling Clinton a black president and also why he made a killing in 92 and 96.
Then we evaluated the thing and saw that perhaps it wasn't the correct way and a lot of people like Biden agreed. But now new kids who are too lazy to read but not talk want to act like they knew the effects before they were born. Most points in it were good, a few were trash. But to pass a bipartisan bill you have to negotiate, who knows who came up with what. But mainly some of the "additional offenses" were launched to win an election because people were saying that the democrats didn't care about crime as long as it didn't affect them.
The biggest problem was that they didn't launch another bill to make sure that the cycle didn't continue. It's like bombing Iraq and not helping to rebuild it like you did with Germany and Japan.
