So after 3 months of applying for help desk positions with no results I decided to lie and add 1 year of experience to my resume (all I have is my A+ cert and a home lab where I installed Virtual box and Windows Server 2019 and messed around with Active Directory and such) it worked and within a few days I got offered a interview with a small IT company where I will be assigned the role of help desk support tier 1.

The problem is I obviously have no actual help desk experience at all. I know it’s a terrible thing to lie but I was getting frustrated with being passed over due to no experience and how could I get experience when no one would hire me? :francis:

Who cares they will train you on the job
This. No matter what my skills are/were, I was always trained on every job and not one time has there ever been a task that I couldn’t do with some basic training. You gotta figure, “educated” or not, most people are dumb so if they can do their job, more than likely you can too…

Do not do it. There was a breh on here many years ago who lied about experience, got an interview and then landed a high level job. It ended up being hell for him.
Did he get fired or something?

Help desk isn’t really high level anyway. It’s very entry level.

Lying on your resume and you claim to be Son_Of_God :smh:
nah, there is nothing wrong with embellishing here and there. Saying you have x amount of experience with something you dont will get found out immediately through an interview or soon after.

This isn't a high level job. The only thing you need to work the helpdesk is a pulse.

OP, all you need to do is google 'Helpdesk' interview questions, memorize at least 15 of them and you're good.

I lied on my resume when I got my first IT job. If I didn't I probably would've never actually got one.
