I only have one grandparent left. And lately because of life, I haven't talked to her as much as I should.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers, OP.

RIP. My grandmother was the last to go. Not even 2 years after my gramps died. Couldn’t stop crying. Hold onto those memories.

I'm still processing the grief. Lost my grandfather (or the closest thing to a grandfather I had, her husband, who I'd known since birth) just a few weeks ago and my grandmother died last night.

I had the incredible experience of growing up with great-grandmothers and grandmothers on both my maternal and paternal sides, and I had them for nearly all of my childhood.

It's hard to quantify the loss. I was just learning more about her as an adult, since she was down in Alabama I only got to see her once a year or so. She faced the absolute brutality of the apartheid South her entire life, and particularly as a young mother. The last time I saw her was at my law school graduation, spent some days and got to talk to her more than I'd ever gotten to before.

This shyt is tough.
It is rough losing your grandparents, they play such a vital role during our upbringing in how they compliment our parents. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I lost someone close to me recently too. All I can say is be strong for your parents and any of your grandparents other children. Cherish the memories and the lessons and all the love they gave. And do your best to give a bit of time to those important elders in your life. You never know when they might be taken.

My condolences bro, stay strong. My the ancestors guide your loved ones home. 🙏🏾
