Or they can look for better jobs. :yeshrug:

Sounds like you’re tellin em to pull themselves up by their bootstraps :mjpls:

Anyone telling them ‘find better jobs’ is part of the problem. It’s one of the most accessible jobs for people looking for experience, and it’s one of the most common most accessible employment opportunities for women.

Restaurants needs servers, because of archaic rule structures they live predominantly off tips. Someone could say ‘well change the rule structure then’ well yeah that’s all well and good if it was that easy racism would be gone too, so in the meantime shut the fukk up and tip or get your broke ass on :stopitslime:

Tell these waitresses and waiters to stop sulking and pouting when a group of nikkas come in assuming we not going to tip. So many times I’ve been out and can instantly feel the vibes the sever is giving because they think I’m cheap, makes you not even want to tip good but I do anyway to try and move the needle for the next breh after me. Doubt it works and they just treat them the same..this shyt really goes both ways they need to look at themselves too always judging guests

Why isn't the demand made of the employer.

A tip is a kind gesture that varies depending on the experience and individual. The salary should be covered by the employer.

Like can people go to a restaurant and opt out of the service? "Nah, it is cool b. I'll collect my dinner when it's ready".

I don't why people work at bartenders or waiters. Can't they make more working at Wal-Mart? I don't thin the requirements were that high.
certain ones make a lot more than wal-mart employees, that's why they're complacent. the other ones who aren't doing so well see this and start to blame the customers instead of the people underpaying them.

Problem is, bartenders and waiters/waitresses get paid way more than minimum wage would've paid them without tips.

This is why they do NOT advocate for an enforced minimum wage law for their particular set of jobs in their field of work.

To be completely honest, they are usually paid very well compared to your average hourly wage earner depending on how popular the establish is that they work at, female/male, attractive/homely, etc.

Tipping bypasses regulatory policies and taps directly into raw human instinct, which is a benefit nearly all of the time.

Also, as mentioned above - a lot of these tips are not reported to the IRS, therefore these individuals have LESS of an incentive to have their earnings regulated and subsequently reported, which would cause them to have to pay their fair share of taxes.

As much as the service industry (the ones that complain) on some 'woe is me, please spare change, kind sir' :stopitslime: type shyt, they are truly getting over on the American economy.

Granted, not as much as the mega billion corporations that dont pay taxes - but certainly in their own right. :yeshrug:

Their pleas fall on deaf ears over here.

People have been getting better jobs for decades. Billions of people.. Whats going on in 2021, where looking for better is considered "boot strap" talk?

The server only got that $9 because of those 30 hours of overtime. They most likely did okay.
Counter point..

How do you feel about people who make a living off tips not paying taxes on said tips, or underreporting?

I know bartenders and waitresses who are against minimum wage even if it was $25/hr, because they make more in tips and they don’t pay nearly the same taxes are someone who earns $25/hr.

And for the record, I tip generously. They love when we show up.
Only certain places will have servers making over $25 an hour and many companies have a minimum on declared tips.
That's fukked up but it's crazy how they apply pressure on the customers and not the employers.
Employers are pressured by customers.

So I usually tip 20 percent unless the service is ass awful. That being said, restaurants have it good getting this cheap labor and having us support their work staff.

I was in Europe visiting my wife’s family and waiters looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to tip.

Because if the employer/industry continues to profit they have no need to change how it runs. And no, you cannot go to a restaurant and go in the kitchen for your own food.
