It also varies by state. MN has mandated minimum wage so servers make I believe 9.25 here no matter what.

Any good waiter or waitress will make at least $15 an hour in tips unless they are terrible or the restaurant is mad slow. Ask them if they would prefer to go by the hour and they will decline immediately.

Anyone telling them ‘find better jobs’ is part of the problem. It’s one of the most accessible jobs for people looking for experience, and it’s one of the most common most accessible employment opportunities for women.

Restaurants needs servers, because of archaic rule structures they live predominantly off tips. Someone could say ‘well change the rule structure then’ well yeah that’s all well and good if it was that easy racism would be gone too, so in the meantime shut the fukk up and tip or get your broke ass on

The irony of this thread is that loosely regulated capitalism got us fighting against each other instead of the people responsible, and it works every fukking time.
