Idk why but I've been playing I Care 4 U on repeat this week. Her discography is so unique. She was such a special talent. She could get you on a ballad like At Your Best then she could turn around and get the party jumping with a banger like Are You That Somebody. One of a kind. Sing, dance, beautiful smile, fine as hell. Infectious personality. :wow:
Hope it inspired you, because we in need of another Coli Hit song from you. It’s time for that third single drop it!:feedme:

Normani gives me strong Aaliyah vibes.. maybe she can carry that torch...

I miss Aaliyah so much. I remember when she died, all the girls at my middle school were crying. Low key, that shyt fukked me up inside. I can never watch the Rock the Boat video without getting sad 😔

I remember thinking 9/11 was gonna take away from Aaliyah’s memorial.
Psychologically I have to keep reminding myself that Aaliyah died before 9/11, even though I remember where I was when Aaliyah died and where I was when 9/11 happened. It feels like 9/11 kicked everything off in the 00s, so it feels like she died after 9/11.

Aaliyah will always be the prototype. Amazing talent and unique style. She will always be missed :to:
Real talk. Not trying to compare. But even though Beyonce is the more talented artist vocally, Aaliyah just seemed more organic. More natural. Unforced. Can't believe there was a time when Beyonce actually took a backseat to another woman. That Missy Elliot /Timbaland /Aaliyah Machine was a monster.

One of the closest talents to Michael and Janet Jackson to come after them. When she dropped something in the late 90s and early 2000s it was about a guaranteed hit. She danced better than any of the other girls. She really was an entertainer. She had the superstar team behind her like you already said.

When I see this , I know she was about to knock down Hollywood. But the pressure she might have gotten from producers to do different things might have been bad for her.

You know
:mjcry: my mom woke me up to tell me the news. I loved her. She was so talented and beautiful.
I had come home with my grandmother from a family member’s wedding reception when I heard the news. The news got around at the reception too from what I heard. My older cousin came by , asked my younger brother and I “ did y’all hear about Aaliyah?” I said “no”. “She died in a plane crash”! My reply “no way.” It was around 8:30 on a Saturday night. I remember turning on the radio after and they was playing an Aaliyah tribute on the radio :mjcry: MTV showed nothing but Aaliyah programming the Rest of the weekend. Like this….
