She's probably one of the only female artists dudes feel no shame about listening to whatsoever. She had so much swag. I can't count how many nights I spent cruising up and down 95 listening to her music.

As a youngling, that trick that she would do with the cane at the end of "Try Again" video always mesmerized me. I would stop everything that I was doing and just watch that.

Loved her music. I wish she could see all of the fans that she has amassed since her passing.

I remember thinking 9/11 was gonna take away from Aaliyah’s memorial.

I remember the 2001 VMAs had a great tribute to her with Missy, Timbaland, Janet Jackson (even though she messed up her lines) all speaking, and it ended with a mass of people outside with their lighters lit. It dawned on me while originally watching it that at the last VMA award show, she beat Britney Spears for the Best Female Video and the next year they're holding a tribute to her because she passed away in a plane crash. Life can be so unfair. That was less than a week before 9/11 happened too.
