teaching abroad is a last option for me but its hard as hell to get a job overseas doing the same old thing applying for jobs online.

Theres gotta be another way:mjcry:

Yea bro it's hard but it also depends on your target region and field of work. If you want to work in a developing country, it's easier to get work from a small to medium sized firm to hire while that will not fly in industrialized regions (i.e Western Europe), Larger and international firms are companies that have the financial means to sponsor you and go through all the legal obligations to get you a work permit especially in industrialized countries.

But you are right it is difficult since a lot of countries especially developed ones have laws specifically making companies to look at the local worker pool for hiring and have to justify why they are hiring a foreign national.

Another avenue is if you are still in school (or thinking about it) is to go to school abroad for a program and graduate, find work and your student visa can be transformed into a permanent work visa.

I've already graduated back in 2014 thought about going back & getting my masters but I refuse to do that knowing I'm already paying private student loans that refuse to work with me payment plan wise.

I know you can get your masters in Germany for free but you have to prove you can survive over there on your own financially including proof of finances(show them a bank statement).

Applying to these big name companies hasn't made much of a dent. But I'll try applying to smaller and mid size companies

Ok cool what field are you in? Schools abroad in Europe especially are a whole lot cheaper than the US. Is there anyway you can contact your lender arrange some type of forbearance as long as you prove that you have been accepted to a graduate program outside of the US?

Yea I feel you online applications are a pain when you apply locally let alone internationally but you have to keep at it. Look at emerging markets also Asia and Africa. It's a different lifestyle I know but worth it.

Environmental science field but dealing with chemical waste.

I know Germany is like the world leader when it comes to green energy and environmental protections so that's why I was leaning towards laying my head there. But emerging markets you say:ohhh: I wouldn't mind living in South East Asia.

Have you tried any UN, World Bank jobs or World Health Organization? But yea a Master's degree is like a pre requisite these days especially for international jobs. They have a broad array of jobs. Renewable energy/green is in in those markets especially in electricity deficit countries especially with the whole climate change wave right now many jobs should be available.

I echo this man. My situation currently. Unless you have an extremely special skill that makes you a must hire it's hard as a foreign candidate to complete in an overseas market. Maybe if you know someone in the country you're trying to move to you can tell them to hand your CV/ask around .

EDIT : Or you can marry up for citizenship. That's usually the route most take,

Pretty sure Australia has a program where you can work there for a few months easily as long as you’re under 30.

Anyone who has traveled to a tropical destination for longer than a week, and enjoyed themselves at said location, has considered working outside of the US to escape the harsh realities we face at home.

:duck:

She just went abroad to bedwench and do the Singapore Swirl.
:mjlol:
You still have to pay us taxes if you are abroad and keep you US citizenship. The cost of living in Singapore is much higher than US

Be safe tho!

NOT TRUE. AS LONG AS YOU DON'T STEP FOOT IN THE US FOR THAT CALENDAR YEAR, YOU DON'T PAY TAXES ON EARNINGS MADE OUTSIDE OF THE YEAR.

MY FRIEND WAS MAD THAT HIS DAD DIED AT THE END OF NOVEMBER BECAUSE HIM COMING HOME FOR THE FUNERAL MEANT HE HAD TO PAY TAXES FOR THAT YEAR. HE IS A DEFENSE CONTRACTOR THAT WORKS 6 MONTHS ON AND 6 MONTHS OFF. HE DOUBLES UP SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO COME HOME TO TAXES.

That's the move. If you are an American citizen and especially if you get a job overseas, you get paid an expat salary that is tax-free. If especially if you go work in a developing country, you even get more compensated because you have an American education and the workforce in developing countries aren't as skilled as the workforce in industrialized nations. So you are a hot commodity in addition your rent is covered by your employer so is transportation related to your profession (to and from work with a driver). That's why white people go often in droves to places in Africa and Asia to work because they know the game.

Nah homie. The US taxes overseas earnings :sadcam:

The US definitely taxes it’s expats. The only cases in which they don’t tax is if the country you work in doesn’t have income tax such as Qatar. Even with that if your salary is above $110K Uncle Sam gonna run yo pockets :mjcry:

Before the pandemic I was working my tail off to get a job in Qatar. :francis:

@RealCrownHeights , this is what i was talking about in your other thread. I hadnt seen this thread until today, but the lady in the article parroted my words almost word-for-word about the teaching abroad thing and its benefits.

Itd be perfect for the English degree you already have.:blessed:

As for locations, if you avoid southEast asia and China you should be fine. So Why do i say avoid these two regions? Simple. Lifestyle difference for an American in SouthEast Asia is dramatic, no matter what they are paying you. Singapore is the only exception.

As for china, it is true that you can live your same standard of living in shanghai, guangzho, or Beijiing, but they have been known to make it difficult to leave during your teaching contract. You would ideally like to be free to bounce if you need to come home on short notice.

To keep the same urban standard of life, consider Japan, Korea, Singapore, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, or Egypt(this one is hard to swing but doable).

If you part of the coli's snowBunnyCoalition, eastern EU is doable also. Your lifestyle could be comparable to the US in cities like ST.Petersburg, but East Europeans(russia, hungary, Ukraine) pay you less than the Asians and Arabs. That doesnt stop you from stacking tho. But i know some people still willing to make the sacrifice for their PAWGs:hubie:.
