That's a legitimate way to cook burgers the fat from the beef and a water make a broth. Allows you let the seasonings go through the inner meat. If you want you can finish it in the skillet if you want to char it.

Yeah I had to eat burgers and hotdogs boiled in a pot of water. Made me wish I was eating burgers and hotdogs at a cookout, you know, that was actually cooked on a grill.

Nah, I get hotdogs in water. My folks did that when I was younger, but boiling a burger is weird.
