Ima Hip Hop fan for life. Im not just gonna turn my back on a genre I grew up on even if I disagree with some things thats going on. And of course its not the same as back in the day. Times change. You have a choice to listen to what you want. If youre over a certain age then you should not expect the radio to cater to you, we have internet radio, ipods, mp3 players, etc..but hey thats just my two cents. One more thing, its a lot of dope music that came out this year

I find myself criticizing everything on radio..and I do mean everything....I even cringe when I hear most of today's R&B....

and im a very tolerant understanding person..i can find entertainment in everything

I told myself long time ago...when I find myself griping and byatching more than I nod my head or tap my feet..then it's time to go :camby:

I find myself wanting to be in bed by 10:30 even on a weekend day ......I don't even stay up to watch the news :damn:

and what was crazy is I use to MARKET rap music...but it's like it's beyond WWE to me..it's one big a$$ WORLDSTAR HIP HOP MOMENT every day

this person got shot...this person might be gay...this person getting locked up.....I found myself paying more attention to that than the music
Urban radio is trash. Sex sex sex weed Molly sex fight shoot get high sex sex

Sports radio for me 90% of the time.

But there comes a point where tryna spread good music on this board becomes pointless when you get 1 to 2 daps, no replies, and a muthafukka makes a thread saying music is dead and gets 27 daps in one hour. its pointless tryna lead the blind to the good shyt.

BINGO! this is what ive been trying to tell people for a while. It almost makes me cringe when i hear people say shyt like "there is no more good hip hop" "hip hop is dead" or "i cant stand the way rap sounds these days" :mindblown:

Usually the same people that say that have a very small and limited view or perspective of whats really out there. If you strictly rely on whats being played on the radio or whats being fed too you on 106 and park and shyt like that, then you are a lost cause. If you sit there and only complain about Macklemore/ Ryan Lewis, kanye and 2chainz, then u have a very narrow mind of hip hop is in 2014. Because it spans FAAAR greater than them. And also those same people with those complaints refuse to even attempt to check out new artists or underground artists that make dope music.

Its like some people are such sheep that they will only check for an artist if they have a gatdam Drake stimulus package cosign or some other established artist cosign. Hip hop/rap aint dead to me. There has been so much dope shyt that has dropped this year. But in all honesty the people who complain about the state of hip hop today, sound just like females who say shyt like "aint no good men out here" :usure: No, maybe its just you.

Sorry for the rant, i had to get that shyt off my chest :pachaha:

Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
The hard drive in my truck is filled with nothing but 60/70/80's soul & golden era hip-hop shyt. I also have an SD card that I use for contemporary music. Only albums that I haven't deleted after first listen is Kendrick's album, Timbalake, Prodigy's new one, and Muse's last album.
So I am with you OP. The current popular music scene is :patrice:

I just don't get it anymore ...... :why:

2014 is such a strange era right now......

and even though during my last few years I threw myself back into the mix of the industry with a few ventures I had...

It's a wrap for me...I no longer feel "entertained" by this so-called culture and if I was to remain just to get a "check"..then im no different than the corporate c00ns like Steve Stoute and Hustle Simmons who exploit the culture

on top of that..ethics wise..i feel like that KRS ONE verse...

"your psychologically and spiritually and morally SICK!!"

Cats like YOUNG THUG getting a cosign and Macklemore becoming the posterchild of rap music along with all these rapping a$$ non creative scrippers and so-called street niccas has run it's course with me

and anytime somebody like a Curtis Sc00n or a Dame Dash or Lord Jamar speaks up...then their seen as the WEIRD OUT OF TOUCH MILITANT :wtf:

it's time for me to go.... :snoop:

cause I know I AM THE MINORITY now..amongst a bunch of conformists...

I've had fun...but I need to wrap this shyt up...I'm a father and I've really enjoy all aspects of fatherhood....

and I'm fortunate to not have to deal with the babymama drama :blessed:

along with the fact I ENJOY GETTING OLDER.......ive never felt more SECURE and CONFIDENT...

don't get me wrong I'm forever HARDONHOES FI LIFE!!..

FREE RAYMOND FELTON!!! :noah:

.but I only do that as a spokesperson for those brothers who don't feel they have a voice in this militant feminist..pro-gay ..politically correct society...like I said many times I LOVE WOMEN..I JUST HATE HOES

:manny:

shoutout to all the OG's like Newark 88 and ART BARR..and ONLY IN CALI.....THE GOD TUA.....WILD SELF.....CHRISTOPHER BROWN ....SALADEEN ALI ....BLACK REIGN....ILLEYE BUCKEYE and others who showed love and seem to be some of the few I could relate to on here...

Shoutout to the whole TPC click......I know I'm breaching my "contract" but my "knee is on KOBE STATUS" :russ:

but MY TIME IS DONE...I had a GOOD RUN :obama:

bout to enjoy this spring break with my son...and take some trips and shyt..who knows maybe it's a hiatus..i love this place..it got me thru work .....and met some cool people...

exactly.

people on here are more interested in gossiping like females and criticizing than they are actually interested in the music, it seems. then turn around and complain.

miley cyrus threads in the booth get more views and replies in 2 minutes than underground hip hop acts who put out a new tape or whatever get in 2 days.

there needs to be a gossip section on here for this shyt cause half the time threads in the booth arent even discussing music.

it's flooded with shyt like

"hip hop is trash"
"__ and so got arrested"
"__ is a wearing gay shyt"

and threads actually discussing music get buried

funny how people on here have complained about how catering to females ruinied hip hop when most the booth posters act like females them damn selves.

@dora_da_destroyer contributes shyt and discussion to the booth more than 90 percent of the posters in the booth.

Can you tell me these people or all we all talking about one singer who's never on radio?

And what about these people?

There was a time when the major label A&R's restricted people from making anything they wanted to make. You had to preserve some type of "class" in your music, you could't keep it trill with people. And I don't know why anyone who isn't a priest or a conservative old man wouldn't want a few cats representing what most youth how a lot of the young people act and move.

Only few people dropped shyt like Bob Dylan's Hurricane and got scrutinized for it.

The subjects of Sex, Drugs, and Violence have never left music, Its just so happen that the artists from that era in comparison to today were not only more talented but they knew how to deliver a strong range of material to where they can cover anything. Rick James also played his instruments, wrote his own songs, spoke on life happening in the black community. It wasn't this 24/7 fantasy cookie cutter shyt these dudes today are continue to sell

I'm not gonna go as far as to give up on hip hop because theres some cats that are still putting it down(100s, Nipsey Hussle, Freddie Gibbs, Kendrick, The cat that dropped that Black histori project, Macc Lucci, and many others. But I'm not gonna sit there and turn the blind eye and act like we in a new glory era in comparison to the music I grew up purchasing because alot of this shyt out here thats representing in the forefront is hot trash. But I'm not gonna sleep on the cats steady putting it down because they need our support
