yes you are being punished for telling the truth... wait you thought most people were being honest? This is a cutthroat world we live in, thought you of all people would know that. Lie put people you know as your references... they rarely ever check...some even use automated messages to check ... where they call that person and the person presses 1 if they know you. Have your friends pretend they were your "manager" at your old job.
