How many SF of today you putting ahead of prime Melo?

Bron, Durant... that’s it

PGs?

Curry

SGs?

Harden

PFs or Centers?

AD, maaaaaybeee Emiid

Prime Melo would probably be a top 5 player if he played today, let’s not get disrespectful. My dude is just old and playing in a shytty system now

What's the point of this thread? One of the best pure scorers of his generation and could score from anywhere on the floor. Unfortunately for him, he has a bad habit of settling on the floor instead of using his quick first step to get the shot that'll be best for him.

a potent 2 way player
He was never a two way player, he wasn't a good defender. :francis:

His face up game, quick first step, jab steps, midpost game, jumper off screens, shooting in transition, his quick second leap allowed him to get offensive rebounds and a lot of putbacks, he could bully his way to the rim with his quickness and strength, and he was clutch. He's lost all his lift and first step over the years. When he was younger he used to dunk all the time. In his prime he had one of the smoothest jumpers the game has seen and ill footwork.

To me his biggest flaw was that he loved the jumpshot too much he became a very poor finisher at the rim, poor shot selection too much isolation, he wasn't a willing passer out of double teams, wasn't a good defender, was kinda injury prone, didn't run P&R's enough/make that a more viable part of his game, he didn't push the ball in transition to the rack enough, never got his body into peak condition which coupled with injuries led to a quick athletic decline. I think Melo still got juice in the league, I believe he could be "Olympic Melo" in the right system with the right players around him (Houston). Melo is washed but he still deserves to be in the league.

This is what rookie Melo looked like, kind of a cross of Jayson Tatum and Jabari Parker.

One of the best scorers of his time. Still has a career average of 24 points a game, and during his prime averaged 27.

I never thought he was on LeBron's level but Bron is a top 5 player all time. Melo is more of a top 100 player.
