"put cha face in ya lap /
n!ggas wanna be the King but the Ace is back"

so blatant with it. doesn't even sound like ghostwritten lyrics, its sounds like lyrics from a song jay-z already laid for himself and Dre just silenced Jay's vocals and recited the same verses. karaoke style.

90 percent of the bars could not relate to jay-z. It's Obviously custom written for dre, he's talking about khakis, la traffic, swap meets, lolos, Cali weed and his career the whole song

Rakim says he didn't write it. Jazz says that was will smiths pen game

LMAO @ nikkas expecting people to admit that they ghost wrote something.

Rakim already admitted in a interview that he wrote Summertime. Probably slipped up.

The purpose of ghost writing is to not take credit for writing something. Why is that lost upon 99% of the people posting in this thread?

I mean.....of course Will Smith wrote Summertime, I bet he wrote (wink wink, nod nod) all of his albums.

I don't see why people are sayin' it was "ghostwritten".

He's credited for writing the song in the album credits. No one has ever tried to hide that he's written a couple of joints for Dre.

LOL @ nikkas saying Rakim wrote "Summertime". A few years back, cats on SOHH were saying Common wrote it. Dudes need to chill with try'na discredit Will.

This cracks me up, even though Jay-z is credited in the notes it is 'ghost written'

However, Kanye West does the same thing and it isn't 'ghost writers' they are collaborators helping him with lyrics

Fam, ghost writer means the work is credited to another person.

If you're doing interviews and saying that people wrote this and that, there's nothing about that that says "ghost writer". Kanye was saying he wrote joints that he didn't. That's a totally different situation. Dre doesn't go around claiming to write joints that someone else did.

:snoop:

I don't need you to explain to me what a ghost writer is and you are completely missing the point of why I brought it up.

No.
A lot of people take the phrase "Ghost written" as meaning it's credited to a person
who didn't write it.
Hence the use of GHOST before written.
The person who wrote it isn't seen, they aren't viewed
as being apart of the project.
It's used the same as "Ghost produced" or "Ghost producer".

Dr. Dre gave credit to Jay-Z.
Yes, he didn't write the verse but he didn't
attempt to hide anything or claim he DID write it.

As for Kanye he's BEEN writing his verses.
I doubt he needs to bring in Rhymefest to help
him write lyrics in the same style he has written in
for the past decade.

I wouldn't be surprised however if he consulted
them while constructing his concept and deciding the
the direction of the song.

A lot of Hip Hop fans don't get that because they're
used to seeing Hip Hop as just a producer and a rapper.
Not an army of engineers, musicians, co-producers and co-song writers.

Technically it's not ghost writing because S Carter is in the credits. If you bought the cd and bothered to read the credits you would have known. Not to mention the fact that it's been a well known fact since it came out

They did try and hide it pretty well tho. I remember the print in the booklet being small as shyt :heh:
