I never understood why people believed Gillie wrote Carter 1.

It ain’t just Carter 1. Maybe he wrote some stuff there. But this flow followed Wayne for awhile.

And this is how you should know he’s bullshytting (outside of changing his story everytime he told it and being caught in boldface lies)…that is gillie in ‘06, saying he wrote for Wayne in ‘04, performatively trying to sound like Wayne in ‘06…he was going on 3 years removed from any connection to Cash Money at that point, and you recognize the difference between C1 Wayne and the version of Wayne he’s trying to sound like there

2. People were late to following Wayne. Wayne’s progression as a rapper is one of the most transparent ever because he has one of the most expansive mixtape and “unofficial” (leaked) discographies ever. To put it in grade school terms, “he showed his work”…you can trace every progression of his style damn near every step of the way. From the Sqad tapes to the Droughts to the Prequel to the Dedications…it’s like having game film of a NBA player practicing in the summer and seeing him break out the same moves when the season starts…the shyt is all documented

And to Gillie’s credit…or lack thereof..:his shyt is documented too…it’s just when these convos come up, people never post what Gillie sounded like in real time when he was supposedly writing the entire Carter 1…and it’s because he was just some generic east coast mixtape rapper that was nothing special…he has whole mixtapes during that era sounding like struggle versions of Jay mixed with fab, and Wayne is on them with the same flow he had on Carter 1 and the mixtapes before and after…outshining him




Meanwhile at the same exact Wayne was dropping full tapes every other month for free with the Carter 1 flow already fully developed



In all reality Wayne was nicer than Gillie ever was as like a 17 year old kid…but because he’s from the south, one of the generational talents in rap, he needed some generic east coast Jay-Z knock off to create his style…when whole time his 1st hand Jay Z impression was already way better

Wayne’s best time period, drought 3 and that time before, was influenced by gillie. His flow came from gillie. He was using Philly slang on album material. Anything else is stuck on Stan dikkriding.
