It's overhated for sure. It's fun to work your way through the human bases like Kill Bill just sticking and moving with the dash. Most of the monsters require different approaches too.

CDPR are evolving
i expect witcher 4 to be a genuinely good action game
The thing with every CDP game is the combat is they let you break it really really easy. Shy of like the very last 2 or so difficulties you can do whatever you want and still skate through the game. They'll give you a wide skill tree but 2-3 paths will be clearly just so much better than everything else if you have any intelligence.
I played W1 multiple times through way back in the day though and never really complained. I was so in on the setting/world etc. That game is fukking rough, if W3/2 combat really pisses you off you can never play W1

Ugh, for such a amazing game, it aged like the first one and that one played like assssssssss!!!!
Witcher 2>>>>>
- Sword swinging mechanics look like my son dusting off his room
- The clunky movements feel like you have jello for hips and thigh movements
- You walk like you took a shyt ton of drinks in GTA 4

You are judging it against another WRPG which has a garbage ass combat system. Why not compare it to Horizon?

It’s not stat-based combat, it’s not choice based narrative. What makes it an wrpg?
shyt was terrible. I read how "goated" the game was so I bought it when it was on sale online and that shyt was fukking garbage. Was so fukking mad I spent $20 bucks on that shyt.
Play Assassin's Creed, Shadow of Mordor, Arkham Series, Sleeping Dogs, The Warriors, Horizon, Spiderman, etc etc and you have games that you can actually fukking play! Witcher 3 was shyt.
