There are two ways to look at it. If you've reached the top, or whatever you deem as success, then you can show up to work in pajamas or a suit, and no one would bat an eye.
If you haven't reached success, then dressing in a suit helps you get to where you want to go. It's not a huge effort or causation of physical duress to wear a suit. If it is, then you got issues. If you need to tailor your suit to fit better, then get it tailored.
If your reality is working as a landscaper or janitor and earning around $30,000, then a suit has no meaning. If you are working in an investment banking job or stocks and are pulling down over $200,000 a year, then wearing a suit is part of the deal and it matches the Rolex on your wrist. If you don't want to wear a suit, you are going to lose that $200,000 a year job. That's reality.
I work in a business casual environment. I don't have to wear a tie or suit, but I do need to dress appropriate in an office setting. That means dress pants and khakis and dress shirts or polo shirt. Kind of preppy. :manny: If I walk into work protesting dress codes and march around in a speedo and halter top, I'm going to lose my job. Foolish people do not understand reality.

Like you said, you can dress appropriately without wearing a dress, more and more businesses don't require to wear a suit and these business are performing better than the traditional ones who treat their employee like slave. Why people automatically implies that everyone who don't wear suit are bums, that's slave mentally. So Steve Jobs is bum according to many peoples. Skills are more important then what you wearing, if you have a good degree and good skills in your field, wearing a suit is not very important. Like I said, many people who wear suit are not making a lot of money, it's a scam that people still believe today. And this reality thing is bullshyt, there's so many environments and platform that you can choose to become successful, many people who talk about reality don't know a lot about life, they listen what people tell them and they take that as a truth, which is not.

How did OP find a decent job with wearing at least a jacket and tie to a interview? :ohhh:

I'm a graduate in software engineering, i worked for a tech company for less than one year but i quit cause i don't like to work for people in general, but at least this company never asked me to wear a suit, most employees were in jeans and shirts, and the salary was way above average. Most people in hi tech companies don't wear suits if you don't know it, but i guess most blacks people don't know that because they don't work there.

OP too dumb.

Your job doesnt require you to wear a suit because all you do is sit at the computer. Other jobs require people to wear suits because theyll be meeting, talking etc to alot of people and you need to look presentable and proffesional for that.

You work in IT as a software engineer which means youre job is sitting infront of the pc.

Also youre dumb for not understanding thst some jobs require their employees to wear suits so that them and the company seem more professional and trustworthy to their clients and customers. Why do you think lawyers dont show up to court in jeans and tshirts? Cuz then theyll look like fukking bums

Why do you automatically think that people who don't wear a suit are looking like bums, there's so many way to dress good without wearing a suit.
that bummy comment was in reference to you saying you wear "jogging pants" (which I assume are similar to sweat pants or track pants). To me that's bummy. And that's also not professional looking.
I work at a clothing store, and all of my male coworkers wear khaki pants, and on occasion some of them have worn suits. While they don't have to wear suits, they look a lot better with them on, and they get a lot of compliments.

Things you can only expect to hear from junior high schoolers...take...1,215,285! What grown man doesn't understand why he sees some people in suits every day? Troll thread.

Explain to me why is so much important ? Explain to me why is so much important, you're just conditioned to think like that but you don't know it.
