Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
I feel like I'm being non-homeowner shamed by the fam :wow:
My cousin brought a house and is on my nuts about not being a homeowner
I've been paying rent for a minute and I'm good to go. I'm a simple nikka.
Plus, buying a home is too "permanent" for me.
I don't know if I want to live in that house for 30+ years
:sadcam:
I'm too much of a wanderlust and what if I want to move a couple years after I buy a house
I feel the pressure to buy a house brehs. Got me feeling like I ain't shyt unless I'm a homeowner
:mjcry:

I thought folks shaming you for not graduating college was bad. Not being a homeowner is up there too.
Idk... In my feels today
:wow:

Different cultures do different things, this is America so everybody needs to "own" something to feel accomplished. Less than half the people in Germany and Switzerland buy their homes, the majority of them rent and the Swiss have more wealth than the average American.

Just do you, everybody wants you to be like them so they don't feel like they made a mistake.

:smh: at the stupid short sighted logic in here.

You can't pass down rent payment history to your children.

Ownership(house, business, land) is one of the building blocks of inherited wealth that builds through generations.

You own a home and when you die your offspring will inherit that property, but they also buy a home and by the time they die, their kids( your grandkids ) will have a head with double the property and they can easily add on since they already own assets, it compounds.

More than likely your children will sell the home and fight over the money after, nobody here is buying some vast estate that will accrue massive amounts of equity, people are buying median homes and acting as though they're gonna end up the Rockefellers :yeshrug:

Ownership of a business or land I agree with, building wealth via owning a home is not where it's at.

You dont truly own anything, life is one big game of monopoly. And the US government is the banker.

Once I realized we essentially work for money just to give it right back through bills, frivolous objects, basic necessities, etc....I was like :mjcry:

You know the funny thing about the rat race? Even if you win, you still a rat :mjlol:

My loft was $325,000, and my monthly HOA is $800/month.

Once I'm done paying it off I can sell it. And if the value goes up I can recoup money on the HOA fees.

You can't do that when you rent. :yeshrug:

You're fukked if property values plummet though, that's why people but houses with good school districts. :mjpls:
Those HOA fees are terribly high for 300K home

Starting off inheriting a home will start you off a lot better ground then not, I dont know how you're arguing this

Again, I agree with you on land and a business, but not median homes which is what the vast majority of people in this thread are talking about. Your kids aren't building wealth selling some $170,000 home in Ohio after you're dead, they're going to be able to retire sooner and that's really about it :yeshrug:

That's not the world we live in, it's the country we live in. @chefmate7days is a fellow #Vagabondboy aka, someone that will leave the US before they're 45 and retire with a fully paid off cheaper home in another country while people his own age are living that American dream working till they're 70 paying off the mortgage and kid's tuition.

The real eye opener is that you never truly own anything, your time on this planet is finite, so "ownership" only exists in your mind. We getting real philosophical out chea.

The best is to own property overseas.

When you own land in DR, it's yours. I'm sure it's similar in Jamaica or other islands in the Caribbean.

Here, when you own a house, you're paying the bank and you're paying taxes but it's not like you can pass the house down for generations. They really rape you here.

Real talk, but its funny..although I realize this it makes me more ambitious lol. The best thing money can buy is time. So i'd rather bust my ass now so I can be done with this shyt by my 40s. I'm talking to this chick who lives in Goias, the interior of Brazil. Seems like a nice spot, good location. Might get some land there and start a village :mjlol:

I'l just leave this here :sas2:

http://www.jamesaltucher.com/2011/03/why-i-am-never-going-to-own-a-home-again/

I'l never tell a black person to NOT buy a home if they can really afford one. I'm looking at the ones who succumb to everyone telling them they need to buy one but they aren't really sure or can't really afford it.

But this is capitalism. The housing market is a $15 trillion industry. The whole "when u rent you're throwing money away" and "put down your roots, own a home" are marketing slogans.

You don't own a home until that mortgage is paid off. I understand if u got a family and feel that's the most stable thing to do. I'm single and free to move wherever I want.

Own a home brehs. Just don't let the home own you.
James Altucher is that nikka.

I agree with this post but I do want a house.

Idk..I'm 27...I got time :sas1:

lmao, exactly breh.
You got people spending half a mil on condominiums.
Meanwhile in DR I know a guy selling 55 acres for 40 grand. And I'll bet he'll take 35. Yeah you gotta build your house on it afterwards, but still....
