I played in both eras, I played against both of them. Jordan is the #GOAT - Ray Allen

I always laugh when the media hype boys are surprised or flustered when guys that actually played vs both Lebron and MJ say Jordan is the GOAT. Patrick tried to get Ray to, but Ray wasn't budging.

there are just a few guys that can say they played vs both Lebron and Jordan. Paul and Ray Allen both say Jordan is the #GOAT.

Ray also says MJ would average 45 a game today, in his prime. Alonzo Mourning and Phil Jackson have both said the same. these are guys that actually played in both eras :yeshrug:

I hate to do this bro, but I gotta neg you

Why u posting Ray Allen opinion? Daryl morey already said lebron is better. How is this still a debate? :mindblown:

A non-balling coli poster asking NBA players, HOFers at that, if they know basketball :mjlol:

Are you implying that players know more than guys who have access to advanced stats?

You think just because ray allen played against Mike and also played against LeBron that his opinion has some sort of merit?

You realize how absurd that is? :mjlol:

Imagine if I test drove a Mercedes and BMW and I said the BMW handled better. How Can I make that claim? I gave no stats, no facts, just a baseless opinion.

Please stop dumbing down basketball

I really wish they would take games off TV and just put the advanced stats on the screen instead. I'll tell you one thing, the discussions would be a lot more nuanced and high level

You're usually a good poster so nono disrespect, but yall gotta stop With this "he played ball for 30 years and has spent 30,000 hours watching film and he's plsyed against everyone, etc"

NONE OF THAT SHYT MATTERS

can he give you the derivative of vorp's trinomial? If not, pleast stop the foolishness.

The media has been begging for the Kobe vs Jordan debate since 1997 so please get all the way the fukk out of here with that nonsense. This isn't a Kobe appreciation thread, there are already thousands of those so rattling off random stats is a waste of time. To truly be in the goat conversation, he would have had to meet or exceed Jordan and he didn't do that.

I rank Jordan ahead of everyone else but guys like Kareem and LeBron inspire more of a debate because of their physical differences. Kobe was extremely similar to Jordan in size and style and was not as good. Nothing to debate.
why on this site does Jordan get penalized for his physical differences and Bron gets praised for his :jbhmm:

You do realize that not every current/ex-player have the same views on the game, right? Which is why it doesn't make much sense to value Ray's opinion as if it's the be-all and end-all, because there will be a current/ex-player who doesn't agree with his take. Plus, he's only human, he's susceptible to bias/narrative/nostalgia - which certainly is the case here when he's of the belief that MJ would've averaged 45 if he played today.

jordan could average 45 if

1. he plays for a sorry ### team with nobody else
2. shoots more 3s then usual(when he averaged 37 he basically didn't even shoot 3s at all), which will automatically make him better at it
3. get to the line 15 times
4. average 27-30 shots per game

so typical jordan stat line would be

45pts

11/15 FTs 11pts
14/22 2fg 28pts
2/5 3fg 6pts

it's very doable on a bad team. with a better squad and a good robin, 40 is still very doable.

jordan was a ball hog(in a good way) and he would do whatever it takes to win the game even if he has to take 25-30 shots every night

How many pts do you think the late 80s MJ could score per game in this era?

Jordan ain’t scoring 45 ppg stop it...:russ:

If you want an idea of what Jordan would do in this league look at prime Kobe. They are basically the same fukking dude. Jordan’s production would be pretty similar. 45 a game is just over the top unrealistic.

boub-u-ub-u-u-ub-u-bub-ub-but MJ shot 50% and Kobe shot 47%, they are nowhere near the same dont ever say that inefficent garbage snitchbe is the same dude as MJ :troll:

I dont care about the topic at hand, but nikkas look like dikkeaters saying someone could average damn near 50 points at any stage of the game like we dont already have fukking comparable scorers to Jordan not doing that now.

THERES NO ONE IN THE LEAGUE
WITH THE ATHLETICISM, SKILL, MOTOR, HAND SIZE COMBO OF JORDAN.

NO ONE COMPARES.

In general (on a competitive playoff team, with a star #2, #2 in perimeter defensive duties etc), I'd estimate around 30-33 ppg. His approach to the game would be different because of coaching, improvement in defensive schemes/defenders, improvement in offensive schemes/offensive players, landscape, and the natural evolution of the game.

If we're talking best case scenario where he gets to put up as many shots as he wants, on a lottery team, on high minutes, it'd be around 35-37 ppg. Similar to what Durant, Curry and LeBron could average if they were put in the same position.

russ averaged 31.6 while averaging triple double :mjlol:

do you really think MJ only averages 30-33 :russ:

and 5ft 8 midget playing for a contending team averaged 29 a game. :mjlol:

MJ will get to the line, do whatever he wants with the ball and just be the freak of nature himself. MJ DON'T GET TIRED breh. you are underestimating how soft this league really is. there's nothing that can stop MJ to get to the line. nothing.

I know y'all like to talk about basketball as if it's some comic book shyt, which is fine, y'all can have your little fantasy thang, but don't act like that holds any weight when we're discussing reasonable, realistic projections.
