TDE is one strange label...
They've got a roster of some of the most talented artists in the WORLD but the strategy just seems...off sometimes. Kendrick and Q are good but Jay Rock really should've dropped an album after GKMC when the Money Trees/Black Hippy hype was at its apex.
Soul's album should've been tweaked to perfection. It really sounded like two different albums mashed together.
Isaiah Rashad should've dropped 1-2 mix-tapes before The Sun's Tirade is a good album, but other than Cilvia Demo he has no catalog. You can't build a fan base without catalog. Big Sean, Wale, J.Cole, Drake, EVERY new generation rapper has built their reputation on solid mixtape runs, INCLUDING Kendrick Lamar. I'm not even suggesting you need to flood the market with music, but 1-2 well constructed and expertly timed Mixtapes wouldn't do anything but HELP him build buzz
