I say dude a fair amount. Maybe I'll just pick a random word. It's just that growing up with it, it's ingrained. Plus I use it on stage a lot. I hate that it naturally comes out. I should probably stop cursing in general. That might make it easier.
Breh that might be the best place to test out new replacements :ohhh:
Or legit do a set on the dilemma.....you can also feel out how the replacements land that way

Good, let all the other races call themselves that. Outside of quoting lyrics and stuff like that or using it in an example, I gave it up like 2 or so years ago myself. Matter fact I cringe when I have to say it in my head reading it here.:scust:

Gaining a sense of "pride" in being black via learning about past history made me throw that word in the bushes.

Matter fact, in hindsight thinking about the people I've known throughout my life, most of the people that I would describe as more "successful" and "intelligent" all hated that word. I remember one of the first times I heard a chastising about the "n word" and why we shouldn't say it, came from one of my uncles, one of the most successful people I've ever known.

I never really understood till I got older.

I like African better than beloved, I miss that Superbowl when we were calling each other African cause of Marshawn Lynch
Crazy how 1 man had us calling each other "my African" for a few weeks. Was beautiful:mjcry:

I was hoping that it would catch on. If 1 man could do that, just imagine if these rappers started using more uplifting words for their fellow black man:wow:

Anytime you say the word you have to drop 100 in a jar.

No ifs or buts. Every single time, drop 100. (Be honest to yourself)

Once that jar gets full open it and burn that money and drink the ash.

The pain you feel will let you adjust your nikka saying ways.

It's not really up to me to make sure other people are decent in that regard. It's more for me and how I present/see myself. I really don't give a fukk what other people do. To be honest, the word doesn't offend me even if people are using it as an insult. It just lets me know the type of people they are and how to interact with them. If they want to make it that easy, that's fine with me.

What is overuse tho? I'm trying to stop altogether because I literally have no use for it. I just say it because I can get away with it normally.
If its used more than once in any relatively short stretch of time (a minute, an hour or a day) its probably overused.

Growing up me and my brothers never used it, just cause we wasn't raised using it by our folks. Outside of quoting lyrics, it just sounded unnatural for me to use it, and forced. Not really sensitive to other brehs using the word but overuse always made me give the :mjpls: to em as ignorant or tryhard. Funny that I would find myself throwin it out in convo with my dude from outta state when we hyped tho it still felt forced.

I've only ever liked hearing it in a positive light (if there is a thing), hearing it on the end of an insult just compounds the insult in my head. I can't help but to picture them Cac music producers grinning when they reading/approving lyrics like "never hesitate to put a n on his back" for example, while at the same time they'll censor "get money like hebrews" which really has no negative connotation. Often times I find some these lyrics sound more appropriate out their mouths. I think in any context you use it, it was said 1st to or about my ancestors by their Cac oppressors, especially "my nikkas". That makes me avoid it, that's theres
