I swear I HATE mechanics

my temp gauge ran hot a few weeks ago so i pulled over and let it cool down. i'm googling and see there is a shop up the street so i make it over there.
pull up
a rep opens my hoods and starts with the "oh shyt oh no" gives me a 1200 quote for to replace the radiator, water pump, and do a radiator flush (why tf do i need a radiator flush if i am supposed to get a new radiator and the fluids allegedly completely leaking out ).
all he did was look under the hood!
I didn't even see nothing leaking from my car, so i said i'm gonna have to make it home breh
made it home (filled it with coolant, turned the heat on to prevent it running hot), went to my neighbor who confirmed a radiator leak.
i replace my radiator (its like a two bolt job) and everything is all good since.... cost about $300.
I am thinking about writing a scathing yelp review on that sheisty mechanic.

You guys need to take your car to autozone and do your own diagnostic for free.

Then ask them to print out the diagnostic and go to an extremely great reviewed close to 5 stars mechanic to get the job done.


One thing I learned is, you have to build relationships with great mechanics.

They end up doing extra shyt for free or give something away.

I got oil given for free and free wipers off relations alone.

Tell them you’ll give them a great review, every time they finish their service. It’s better business and don’t fukk with them cooperate ass dealerships.

I JUST HAD A GUY TODAY THAT FOLLOWED A RECOMMENDATION FROM A YOUTUBE VIDEO AND RUINED HIS ENGINE. 12K DOWN THE DRAIN AND NO WARRANTY BECAUSE IT. JUST WRECKED HIS PREDATOR.

You better off getting a FIXD reader. I think they like $50. Blue driver is better but it cost more. I think like 120. That’s if you want to attempt to fix it yourself. Other than that…the scanners at reputable shops…especially dealerships…are far more superior than the free auto zone shyt

Any mechanic you go to is gon hook they shyt up and see what’s going on even if they don’t charge you for the diagnostic (I can tell you have a trustworthy mechanic, so this might be the case)…unless its something simple. If you tryna get that check engine light off the dash, they have to. Radiator leak or something they can physically see then, na. No reader needed

End of the day you just gotta find a mechanic you trust or just pay a premium at a good shop

So you on a budget and tryna shame or force the mechanic to repair the vehicle on what you think needs to be done. Why did you even bring it to the shop. Most likely it's not a coolant leak or a hose. You might have a compressor issue.

I don't hate you, but I hate muthafukkas that pull up to the shop and got all these directions on what we need to do to fix the car and don't know shyt outside of 5 minute google research

I went back through the thread and homie got charged 927 to replace the radiator, hoses and fluids. That was actually a very fair price.
