So glad this “church” sh!t wasn’t a part of my childhood.

To give you an idea of the level of revolutionary ‘woke Blacks’ my entire family was growing up , my siblings and I were forbidden from even saying “maam” or “sir” to CACS. My parents believed it was too submissive. They believed that since we were forced to say it in slavery, we would NOT be saying it in freedom.

They had a lot of beliefs on the maam/sir sh!t. My parents are dope. They were very into knowledge of self and they were very anti-‘white Christianity’.

This repeats itself through my aunts, uncles, grands, and consequently cousins as well.

We always talk about how crazy it is that we’ve always been what people refer to today as “woke”, and how we never really looked at it that way. It was just what we were raised in. It’s all we know. Been teased about it in school all our lives - “na na you don’t celebrate Christmas easter thanksgiving na na naaa” - now look at all the teasers claiming “woke” in 2018 and who no longer celebrate paganism.

I have literally never stepped foot in a church A DAY IN MY LIFE outside of two wedding ceremonies I attended as an adult. And I am PROUD.

context helps

where I come from you are ushered into manhood at 13 this whole teenager thing is relatively new to human societies in general. my folks didn't look at me as a kid at 14. I had a talk with my mother because I wasn't fukking with Roman Catholicism anymore even back then I was woke to the colonization of the mind through cac jesus. I also wasn't into the denomination wars, the whole thing been stupid as fukk to me I ain't have to grow to see that. My mother didn't get angry about it and she actually followed suit not longer after. We are spiritual not religious as a family

:manny:

You West Indian? My homeboys fam was like that. Forgot where they’re from in the Caribbean. They basically let him do whatever he wanted.

Won’t disagree. But my momma is old school and hers was from the oldest of schools. Her side of the family was churchgoers. I ain’t mad at it either.

Nah Kenyan.

MY father still goes to church and my older sister is a saved again lunatic... my family let's everyone sort themselves out.

The cac preacher I grew up with in Africa turned out to be a pedophile demon who was touching lil girls. I took that into account when I made my decision.

I was happy as fukk when we could slide through the "white" church whenever possible. By the time you sit down you know the service is over. They don't waste no time in that bytch. lol

Black church will stretch a 3 min song into 25 mins. Pass the offering plate like 5 times. I remember one time they did some bama ass shyt trying to see which zodiac sign could give the most money. We went through all 12 of them bytches and this wasn't no little ass church either. I knew a long time ago I wasn't going to church anymore once it was optional.

Was it One Mic or Oochie Wally at your church :gucci:

That's why my moms made is get up early so we could hit the am session. The preacher is on a clock and didn't go into overtime cuz the afternoon service was starting next and that's the main event. Morning service was 8-10. Afternoons, sometimes that joint was 11-2!
