They would have to release a new console when the PS5 drops.
The scorpio is NOT a new console. EVERYTHING that is playable on a scorpio will be playable on an xb1.
Its an upgraded xbox one. There will be no scorpio specific games or features outside of 4K and FPS performance.

You keep stressing that as if I don't already know. I know it's going to be playing everything the XB1 has.

It makes no financial sense to keep it around as only that because you'd have to drop a new console very soon after to compete with the PS5 unless

they're both stretching this generation long as shyt or
they're pushing consumers into the refresh lane or
Scorpio isn't going to cost them much to develop and manufacture

They already lost this gen so pushing Scorpio isn't making money sense unless there's something else afoot.

They'll be fine for a year. By next year they'll have 60 million units sold and a comfortable lead on Xbox. Xbox will probably cut some distance but ps4 already is a success. They really can't fukk it up, its too late for that. Plus Sony knows how to respond from L's, and with VR also pushing units and Europe/Japan being majority Sony fanboys.. They'll be fine regardless. Microsoft needs to nail the price for thr scorpio and they should be fine too.

The bigger issue in gaming is the insane development times. Sony and Microsoft need to address that. It feels like AAA development times doubled since last gen, and last gen was supposed to have harder tech to develop on.

Sony always gets comfortable and complacent with Playstation. I understand the Pro is an 'elitist-ish' item, but without them hammering home whether or not the console would make 1080p/60fps a reality for releases from here on out, I wasn't sold.

In addition to just the gaming settings that I was curious about, what about all the streaming/recording capabilities that are built into the console? I use these features all the time, and a lot of people do as well. Will we see an improvement in quality? Why weren't these questions asked or answered?

They won't allow crossplay between the networks either. It's like Loki has taken over thor and is just making him do dumb shyt for no reason. Xbox keeps striving to appease their users...PlayStation on the other hand?:mjlol:

I think people are gonna like the Pro. Scorpio is more than a year away, and not really relevant now

Streaming/recording is improved.
They did answer all this. There's a big FAQ on the PS Blog.

Q: What benefits does PS4 Pro provide when played on a non-4K HDTV?
PS4 Pro offers benefits even if you play on a HDTV that isn’t 4K. Depending on how the developer chooses to use the increased processing power, games with PS4 Pro support are able to render higher or more consistent framerates, increased environmental and character model detail, improved overall visual quality, and other related visual enhancements. For a look at how games are using the power of PS4 Pro, watch some of the first game footage on our YouTube page.

Some games that have unlocked framerates will run higher like Infamous Second Son/First Light looks like it's running with better graphics at 60fps. Some games might have multiple modes(Tomb Raider is basically a last gen game so it's not really a good example of a dev doing magic.)

It's really case by case. Hell, there's devs that released 30fps games on PC.

Q: Outside of higher gaming performance, 4K TV features, and support for 4K video streaming, are there any other benefits to PS4 Pro?
Yes. PS4 Pro will come standard with a 1TB HDD, faster Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), and a third USB 3.1 Gen.1 port on the rear of the unit. PS4 Pro’s more powerful hardware can also benefit PlayStation VR games, enhance streaming features such as Share Play and Remote Play, and enable higher resolution output for media captured using the Share button.
Q: Will I be able to Broadcast my gameplay at higher settings?
Yes. At launch, you will be able to broadcast a YouTube stream at as high as 1080p and 60 frames per second.
