I just like having newer cars and never really understood the appeal of older ones unless they're exotics.
:manny:

Unless I had all my money tied up somewhere else big or didn't have a job, I would never choose to push an older ride if I could help it.

:yeshrug:
Older cars have a purer feel on the road that you can't get today. Also manual transmissions, yeah they're better and faster today, but they're rare and can't replicate the older ones. It's the little things that add up why dudes like older cars. Don't have a million screens in your face, no annoying seatbelt chimes, the ECU (if it has one) being more simple, less things that can break and they're easier to work on. Like I said, you gotta be an enthusiast to appreciate old cars

And used cars are like needy women...

You fix one problem, then comes another problem shortly thereafter...

Get a slightly used car from a dealership that offers you a good warranty. May be $2-3k more, but it is worth it. There are no such thing as shortcuts for a reliable car.

You can get a warranty pretty much on any whip.
And Certain makes of cars are just reliable brands.

I think people want to make this a reliability issue but that ain't what it is ... Cause there's mechanics everywhere, and you can learn how to Fix ur own to make it good money...

This is really about muthafukaz wanting to "look good".
That's why the question was asked "what do you drive when you wanna pull up to an event"....

Brother a car is mainly used to get from point A to point B.

Muthafukaz working all day, everyday just to have some pretty shyt to go to work in...
Working Just to pay for that pretty shyt.

That's cool for people... That shyt ain't cool for me

I been buying old shyt... Keeping it up, bagging bytches..pulling up to the spots... going out of town... Whatever..:yeshrug:

Point A to B for many older whips is a tall task in itself.

Thats a good secondary car for local errands. never for your primary one.

And driving up to any social event with the OLDEST car by 15+ years doesn't make you think that you can upgrade?
:hhh: The fck I care about driving an old car to a social event, I'll pull up in WHATEVER, y'all trying to keep up with appearances while I'll be stacking all types of bread. I purposely buy older cars because maintenance is cheaper and all the known problems are well documented by that time.

The car in the video just needs a new Floorpan anyway, cut all that rust away and that can be welded in, you can even use any scrap 16gauge steel if your not trying to look pretty. Cars get destroyed all the time like this in the rustbelt. Even cars from 2016 can get got

You mean, American made cars.

If you think that the car on the OP can be repaired, then you don't give a damn about your safety.

Only on The Coli, are these same 6 figure brehs penny-pinching on buying a newer, more reliable car.

:unimpressed:

Nothing you typed in that paragraph really conflicted with what I was saying. I was low-key agreeing with you, but all of what you said is kinda irrelevant in the context of the cars in the thread.

These dudes ITT ain't pushing manual 06' Altimas and '97 ES's; they're not pushing exotics, or even sports cars. They're just pushing old rides, and there's nothing wrong with that if that's what they like. It just couldn't be me.
:hubie:

As far as the other aspects of your post, that's also personal preference ofc. I like screens, I like diagnostics and sensors and cameras and all that. Things like seatbelt chimes can actually be coded out of a lot of ECUs. I did that in my Toyo and now it's even more enjoyable to drive.

I would never assume someone isn't an enthusiast just because they like new tech/models. Dudes that copped the XSX and PS5 (not to scalp but to play) are bigger enthusiasts to me than the dudes still playing their N64s and PS2s.

Your mileage may vary of course. (See what I did there? :skip:)

6 certs, 6 figs, 600k miles. :russ:

It's just not the safety or reliability aspect of it; I just like driving new cars. :manny:

Some folks use flip phones and some folks switch iPhones once a year. Some folks like to go OT and take trips, some folks like staying at the house.

We all like to spend (or save) money for different things.

The stacking bread argument sounds good in theory, but you can't take that shyt with you so it's going to something or someone at some point in time.

I mean, one random breakdown on the highway will cost you more than the car's worth.

Just admit that you dont have $$$ to buy a lightly used car from the last 3 years (at least, before the chip shortage happened).
:russ: but don't you know breh? Everyone on thecoli has money :troll:
