@mag357 i think I’ve read some of your past posts. So I know u have common sense. Which is why I was perplexed by your stance in this thread with regards to old cars.
then it occurred to me your situation must be different from that of the other guys.
if you don’t drive no more than 20 miles a day, and you’re financially astute I can see why You’d want to stick to old cars. As u said, debt ain’t no joke.
however, the stance u have is the perfectly wrong one to have if u spend huge amounts time on the road. A car as old as the one you posted is not the type of car I’d feel comfortable allowing a loved one to drive in. U may feel your car is reliable and it probably is. But how well does it perform if ever in an accident with a more modern car?
these are things u need to consider. But as I said, if u don’t spend that much time on the road, a car like that will do just fine.
Point A to B for many older whips is a tall task in itself.
Thats a good secondary car for local errands. never for your primary one.
6 certs, 6 figs, 600k miles.
It's just not the safety or reliability aspect of it; I just like driving new cars.
Some folks use flip phones and some folks switch iPhones once a year. Some folks like to go OT and take trips, some folks like staying at the house.
We all like to spend (or save) money for different things.
The stacking bread argument sounds good in theory, but you can't take that shyt with you so it's going to something or someone at some point in time.

My thing is. Okay I spend $750 a year on repairs for a 25 year old car. nikkas spending that much on car note + insurance a month. And used cars are like needy women...
You fix one problem, then comes another problem shortly thereafter...
People drive reckless in Chi, the roads are terrible. Winter weather is ass. I don’t see the point in copping a brand new car with all those factors.I just like having newer cars and never really understood the appeal of older ones unless they're exotics.
Unless I had all my money tied up somewhere else big or didn't have a job, I would never choose to push an older ride if I could help it.

Point taken, but the average Moe doesn't really know cars like that.My thing is. Okay I spend $750 a year on repairs for a 25 year old car. nikkas spending that much on car note + insurance a month.
