To me Nas a really strong discography.

It isn't necessarily down to skill of lyricism or anything but he's not an amazing album crafter and his ear for beats is poor for the most part.
I'd say he really only has 4 great albums out of what...12?
And it's not so much his discography isn't great. It is, but relative to my top 10, gonna say not quite there.

Sounds like ol' troll ass alias @lucky lefty is a bigger stan of you than he is of Jay Z.
Nas has as many great albums as ANY of his contemporaries, or any rapper for that matter. Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, Untitled, Life is Good, Lost Tapes and Distant Relatives are all stellar to classic albums. Name the MCs that have that many.

The rest....hell nah, except for various joints here and there
So let's focus on the very good and better, Nas has 4. My opinion of course.
Cube has 5 solo
Ghost has 6/7 solo
Redman has 4
Common has 4/5
HOV has 5
And so on and so forth.
But I cannot fault anyone for having Nas in their top 5, let alone top 10. Just my opinion. Bias for musical preference certainly plays a part.
I bolded the rappers who I think also have "discography" issues. Not to say that any of them have wack discographies, but they haven't consistently dropped great album after great album with only 1-2 duds somewhere along the road.
Cube, Redman, Scarface, Rakim and KRS I haven't fully listened to their later albums. So I could be jumping the gun on them...but even then, at some point they all lost that status where I checked everything they did

Cube and Redman off their 90s dominance alone would make the cut, but even beyond that have some great albums e.g. Raw Footage and Red Gone Wild respectively. Plus extras like Blackout or Straight Outta Compton.
HOV has some issues especially post Black Album but he has too many great projects to overlook.
Big Boi and Ra are near flawless IMO.
KRS-1 and PAC are closest to falling out the top 10.
Common only went bad when experimental but only two albums. Rest is fantastic.
At least we agree that Face and Face are borderline untouchable I'm that regard. Models of high level consistency.

The last two spots came down to G Rap, Scarface and Redman
It hurts,, but I didn't vote for Scarface. Really it came down to Face vs. G Rap. It was a really close call for me.

Nas definitely been more consistent than Cube. Cube came out the gate like a bat outta hell (first few albums are
) but let's be real...he hasn't been good for a loooooong time.Ghost has been more consistent, I agree, but Nas highs have been higher than Ghosts.
Redman still spits his ass off but his last 3 or 4 albums have been unspectacular
Common doesn't have as many good albums as Nas...no way.
Hov has a dope discography as well but he's been mostly miss in the past 10 years. American Gangster is near classic tho.
I will NEVER take a Top 10 list seriously if it doesn't include Nas. Matter fact, I won't take it seriously if he's not in the Top 5. Real rap.
