I definitely feel what you're saying. But they're different type lyricists.

Beans evocative lyricism and emotional delivery is damn near unfukkwitable, which is why he washed Jay on a lot of tracks. But Jay overall is still superior to Beans although Jay lacks that kind of emotion.

Early Lupe's style is comparable to Jay or even Nas (not saying he's on that level :whoa::whoa::whoa:)

Breh, I think prime Beans had Top 5 MC ever talent/potential. He was that good. I'd say he was like what young Grant Hill was in the NBA. A superior all-around talent that could've and shouldve been a best ever contender. I remember when the Source magazine reviewed the Truth they were implying...no fvck it...straight up saying, that we was witnessing the onset of Hip Hop's next game changing, generational MC.

If only Beans could stay out his own way. Its crazy thinking back that he had his own label, clothing line, and movies:mjcry:

Plus MC wise he was the total package. He was witty, had dope wordplay, an ill voice, a great storyteller, passion...he was a 5 tool MC. And some people don't look at this but it actually has some credence when talking about alot of MCs...he was SUPER believable because we knew he was really in them streets. He wasn't just rapping fairytales.

Agreed. But like many rappers the music started to decline after the 3rd album.

Regardless he's still top 15 in my opinion.

I think it was a 4/5. His second best album imo after the B. Coming, which I grade 4.5. I'm not a big fan of The Reason. The highs were stellar but way too much meh joints on there for my liking. And even though Beans didn't knock it out the park on his debut I still felt, like MANY Hip Hop fans, that Beans was on the road to MC immortality. Just didn't go the way we all thought.

I was pretty disappointed with The Truth at the time. I actually liked the second album more when it dropped, although it was very uneven.

I need to revisit those first three Beanie albums. See how they hold up.

I hear you. I need to revisit the Reason also seeing as how many on here really likes that album. I haven't listened to it in some years.

After this round ,I can't think of any other rapper that realistically has a chance of breaking into the top 10

If this was actually the Coli's favourite emcees , I think the list would look a lot different
