:why:

I cant vote for half the people I want to, because Eminem, lil wayne, snoop & too short are taking up spots.

ghostface don't really need to be up there either.

Who would you replace them with?

DMX
kool g, rap - I know he didn't have the sales, but his influence is thru the roof.
and older goats that get swept under the rug. they wouldn't have got much votes on here anyway but it kinda hurts to see them left off list while people that couldn't carry their towels get votes.

With only 15 selections I had to narrow it down. Tbh as successful as X was he's a timepiece. Wayne and Em have much more to do with the current state of hip hop than he does. Not saying that's a good thing

what does Eminem, snoop dogg, too short & ghostface have to do with the current state of hip-hop? how is DMX a timepiece but not those guys?

so because wayne influenced a bunch of young buls that don't know any better, then that means hes a goat?

what about g.rap & the others?

We getting :flabbynsick:when rappers are being referred to as songwriters now
But rappers are writing songs, hence they're song writers, and as far as i'm concerned no matter how many excellent punchlines Big L had, his album wasn't rapped or put together nearly as well as the rest of his contemporaries on any level.
Of course now that I know it was meant to come out in 93 I'm giving it more slack, but when people want to constantly argue he should be on top 10 lists, that's the album i'm going to have to use for comparisons.

Eminem still has a label which is putting out music. And he has a radio station. Snoop is Uncle Snoop. He's an icon and a cornerstone of hip hop. He's the most recognizable face in the game to this day. Too Short just had the biggest hit of his career just a few years ago. Ghost is still very productive. He's been the most consistent rapper in the goat group

DMX is tied to one era and you could make the argument 50's name belongs on there before his. The production is his albums are very dated

G Rap was left off simply becuz there weren't enough slots and somebody like Kane left a more lasting impression imo. But don't worry they'll be a spinoff of this thread
