I think once I hit a 75k salary, I'll be able to fall back and chill

I make 72k right now and it isn't enough... I'm in the bay though. But once You start going up, you just want more.

Content is not a word that people who make a lot of money use. It's almost impossible to have a mindset to just grind hard and then shut it off once you reach a certain point.

There is a reason Warren buffet has been a CEO for 45 years. He has more than enough money to stop. Breh still hungry though.

Also I agree with the poster above. Being debt free and staying that way is the best way to reach financial independence.

I made 70k last year and it was a lot

Idk where yall live or what y'all debt like but if 72k ain't a lot and you single then  at your money management skills

Ever hear of the hedonic treadmill?
A lot of people believe x amount of dollars will satisfy their quest for happiness when in reality, more often than not, your expectations and desires will also rise to meet your income.
The happiness lasts for a brief period and then you're back in the rat race. Essentially, our happiness is always stagnant.
We think we need this or that to be truly happy, but once we obtain it, we simply fill the void with something else.
Instead of 75k it's 90k.
Instead of a BMW it's a Mercedes.
Instead of a 1600 sqft home it's 2400.
Humans are a weird bunch.
I grew up in an affluent, upper middle class suburb and it was always wild to hear my folks discussing neighbors who complain about 90k+ salaries.
Neighbors bringing in 120k+ foreclosing on homes due to terrible investments and frivolous spending in an attempt to keep up with the Jones'.
As salary increases, so does our cost of living - generally speaking. I don't think many people will ever be truly satisfied.

Exactly. But I'm not materialistic at all.
I am gonna keep my car until that bytch blows up :heh:
I already know I don't want to spend more than 200 on a house

Enough will never be enough with that mentality, trust me...

And don't base it all around how much money you earn/have. Base it around how much happiness and personal satisfaction you're getting out of your life. What's the point of earning $500K if you work 100 hours per week and have no friends and don't get to talk to anybody? What's the point of having a million friends and you're broke all of the time? What's the point of having six million dollars but you're sick as fukk and unhealthy? You've gotta find a balance.

Ah the good old coli

Give me health and long life and my loved ones living till their nineties, a roof over my head a car that starts, no stress and that's a good life to me
I'm on the same page breh

But salary is what I need to be debt free and its enough to help my fam out and still be straight breh

I ain't from where you from. I just had to help someone pay their mortgage and I got fam in the projects.

My salary is for me and I like to help my fam out too

PlUS if I have kids I got to make sure they grow up with stability and a place to call home

But I agree..money ain't shyt in the grand scheme of things

I already know all of this.

I worked a job making 33k for 3 years and never bytches about finances :heh:

My mentality is fine. Make 75k and I don't got to bust my ass for that. I can work 40 hours a week in this field. If I want 100k then I'll be doing OT and stressed and managing a bunch of people

I value my free time more than that so 75 to 80 and I'm gucci

Plus my debt is minimal as fukk :heh:

For someone thats supposed to be from the hood you always sounding very privileged when it comes to work and money. I just reached the plateau you are trying to hit this past year, am I broke? No. Am I to a point where I get to just fall back and chill :heh: no I'm not

People have rent, people have student loans, people have hospital bills, sometimes people have cars that need significant repairs, everyone isnt privileged enough to pay a higher rent closer to their workplace, people live in different cities with different costs of living and their salary is directly related to that, on top of it all sometimes life happens and expenses you never saw come out of nowhere, and thats for single people. All those ifs in your post dont apply to the average working person.

I'm not acting above anyone but people are literally coming in here saying 75k ain't shyt or it's not enough or you're gonna want more or shyt like that.

I was happy making 43k! I thought I was rich but I think it's wack for people to come in here and tell me 75 ain't shyt

MY brother makes less but had less debt and more savings then me and he used to help me out so it ain't event about that

But read the thread people literally telling me 75 ain't shyt

I just want no debt and a nice aparment. My car from 2008. I don't wanna ever have to buy a new car Believe me I ain't tryna shyt on no one

I could get laid off tomorrow fukk work lol
When I say fall back and chill, I mean I don't have to work overtime or chase any higher titles. I mean just do my 40 hours and leave this fukking office

To get that promotion and experience for a 75k salary it's gonna take me 2 years breh

Please don't take it the wrong way. I ain't that type of person bro. I live as if I'm making 40k to be honest

I wasn't knocking you at all, you're doing what you are supposed to do making good money for yourself and trying to live the best life possible. People saying 75k aint shyt is a bit facetious but again its considering all those factors that I mentioned. No debt/little debt should be the goal for everyone, but it isnt the circumstance for everyone.
