I think this gen will end up being better than last gen.

The latter half of last gen (09/12) was

I mean it's about the same this time like last gen. Let's be real. Last gen shyt didn't really blow off until late 08. Games like UC and Mass Effect were cool but their sequels really put them on the map. Maybe new IPs like sunset and watch dogs will do the same

Nah 2007 was the year. Bioshock, Halo 3, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Mario Galaxy, Portal, Crysis.
As to whether or not this gen will beat out last gen? I think the games will be of better quality overall, but there will be less of them. Which works for me. Quality over quantity. I don't have time to play every game anyways.

And then 2011 was probably my favorite year. Dark Souls, Portal 2, Skyrim , Deus Ex HR, Dead Space 2 all in 1 year.
Then 2013 with The Last of Us, GTAV, Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider. 
I think this year is we're starting to see things ramp up. Smash 4, Arkham Knight, Fallout 4, SW Battlefront, Mario Maker, MGSV, etc

Every generation starts slow. The difference is now most of us have more disposable income and can actually buy every release. When you were only getting a game occasionally you didn't notice the drought.

Half of PS4s release were delays from last year. That's not really something to hang your hat on.
